Default wtb 98-01 2.5RS or cheap Bugeye WRX

Like the title says, I'd like to buy a 98-01 2.5RS or an 02-03 WRX.
If it's an RS, I'd like it to be in good condition and not ridiculous mileage.
For the WRX it can be a rebuilt or in need of body work as long as the engine is sound(or a cheap shell in good condition).

I'm looking for a fun project car and I'd like to keep it around $5k or less.

Thanks!

I've seen this one driving, looked like it's in good condition. Could use some work though.

I would sell my 96L 2 door for 5k. Dude GCs are getting raaaaaare. Especially in good shape, and 2dr is even more rare!

I love the car, but I don't NEED 2 cars (I also have an 02 WRX)

If your serious, PM me your e-mail adress and phone number.

When it comes to GCs, be smart. It took me a year to find a clean one in awesome shape. But since I have a WRX now, I'd be willing to part with it for 5k (Firm)

There awesome / fun (and becoming very rare / hard to find) cars!

Emissions.

No CEL + pass sniffer...

OR have to pass with all OBDII crap.

But yeah generally you'll add the data link connector for OBDII since that's how the reflashs interface the stock ECM.

Thanks Jaxx, I didn't realize the 95 would be a good swap. I kept reading that 96 is the earliest you should go to keep the OBII and make it simple.

I've seen a couple wrecked bugeyes for around $5k but they had more body damage than I'd like to fix. I've also seen a few 98-00 2.5rs go for $5k or so... they're out there.

I'd definitely pay a bit more than $5k for a 2.5RS that was really worth it but most I've seen have really high mileage and are in need of repairs.

I've almost decided I should just get a darn loan and buy a WRX that doesn't need repairs. I'll keep looking for a while longer for my project before doing that.

Not on the west coast...

I looked for about 6 months and the cheapest I found was around 7k, and that was okay condition. I paid 9.5k for mine, but its unbelievably clean.

re:obd-2

you can put the obd-2 in anything
but with a 93-95 you don't "have to, have it"

you could put in a 02 jdm wrx motor and have it pass

just gives you more options

i have seen basket case 93-95s for $400
learn to love craigs list

Good deal. That sounds like a better idea. As long as it wasn't held together by rust alone I'd prefer something on the cheap if I'm going to swap most things anyway.
