Hey guys, I just rebuilt my 2.0 V7 JDM STI with a 20 thou overbore and was wondering what the EGT should be.
I am currently breaking in the motor so I am not running any boost. I have noticed while driving (in no boost) at about 60mph constantly the EGT approaches 1400F. Is this normal for an engine with the slightly greater compression ? Any input would be great, thanks!

Depending on where the EGT sensor is that sounds about right to me, I used to see 1525 on cruise. What you need to do is check the fueling and timing under those conditions. Under cruise you should be at 14.7:1 AFR and loads of timing.

^^ Thanks Mick. The sensor is actually located in the exhaust manifold about 4" from the flange. I am yet ti install my wideband to determine the AFR's in that area.
Thanks for your input. Anyone else with some info? |

I see numbers in line with what you're getting with my stock EJ205. It's completely normal to have high EGT's at cruising... with the ECU keeping things at stoich and a comparatively low amount of air going through the motor, they will be right up there. It's nothing to worry about and is actually a good thing, as it means you're getting a more complete burn and the cats (well, if you have any) will do their job better.
