Default AT Dip stick stuck

So...

I want to change the transmission fluid and luckily I went to check the fluid level first. My dip stick is stuck in the transmission

After trying with patience to get it out, impatience got the best of me and I tried to 'pry' it out using the ~finger loop~ on the dipstick. Well I broke off the finger loop and the dipstick is still stuck.

PLEASE HELP!

Thank you!

P.S. 4EAT on a '96 Impreza/Outback Wagon.

O.K.

Can anyone tell me what the shaft is made of that the dip stick slides into???
(I only ask becuase I was caught off guard with the plastic 'nut' on the spedometer cable-to-transmission connection on my '91 leggy turbo)

I'm going to undo the wiring and remove the intack and A/C system 'stuff' that is in the way. Then I'm hoping to get a mechanical grip (channel locks) on the top of the dip stick. BUT, I don't want to do anymore damage.

< I'm using that face because I'm really embarrased to be having this problem... I just finnished a fully successful install of: f/r calliper/rotor upgrade, struts/springs/sways/endlinks, new timming belt/seals/water and oil pumps, and the las thing on my list was to change the fluid... I'm stuck! MY WIFE WANTS HER CAR BACK (yeah it's hers) and I'm trying to explain that I can't pull a cork out of a bottle to save my life...

Suggestions please...

If you can get a vice grip on the end that should help get it out...
