What Works:
Attractive, modern style; roomy interior; generous appointments; nicely integrated chassis. What Needs Work: Noisy ride on concrete; overly light control feel; some torque steer. Bottom Line: Manages to keep some of the zoom-zoom athleticism despite pandering to the Accord/Camry market. Full article here. ![]() ![]()

I was a fan of them from the start, and think this looks like another good one.

I owned a 6 before the WRX and loved the car...we have been mazda owners for nearly 20 years and I would buy this 6 in a heart-beat for a DD

I like the styling and size of the old one better, liked that the old one actually came with a manual trans, and that the old one came in a wagon and 5-door. Nice that it comes with a better engine, but no manual trans, no sale in my household.

I think the car looks great, exterior and interior. It has similar fender flares as the rx8 and those gauges are sick. I would definitely buy this if I was looking for a DD. everything is just more better compared to the old mazda6.

The I-4 is available with a MT, and it's the better driver, too.

I used to own the last generation 626 as my DD. It was a loaded top trim version with a V6 and a 5spd MT. I added 5 way adjustable Tokico shocks and Eibach springs along with a one-off custom CAI, upgraded brakes and summer tires on RX-7 rims. I was still low on power, but it handled great for a FWD.
I love Mazdas and have owned 6 of them, but now that I've had a taste of the Subie AWD, I can't go back to plain old FWD. I simply never lose traction with my LGT and I can't give that up now. |

I liked the style of the old one better, but the new one finally has some power with their V6 and nicer options. Sad to see no manual with the V6. I wonder if it will finally be able to keep up with a 3.5SE Altima.
