Default Wha about Canada?

Now that its official the evo will come to the US with 250 HP, and certainly the STI to follow. What about Canada? it sound so good when they annouced the selection of dealerships in Canada to start selling Mitsubishi cars however I do not even know if they will sell the evo or the sti in Canada., Anyone have sources that can confirm this?

I would burst into flame if both the evo and sti are only offered in the US.

When was the last time that an import has been sold in the US and not Canada? I canít think of the last time personally.

I think its fairly safe to say that theyíll be selling both of them up here. Considering how closely tied the 2 countries are in pretty much everything, including automotive laws, it would be pretty dumb of them not to sell them up here.

Not necessarily, in that look how long Mitsu's have been available
in the US but not in Canada.

You are right though, that once the STi comes to North America,
it will be sold both here and the US. I saw somewhere that the
numbers would be really low (<100). Of course, that is totally
unconfirmed ruomour.

How about the Toyota MR2-Spyder? I was getting excited about buying one but then they decided there was not enough market for it.

If the EVO or STi get here, they'll be in BMW/Audi price territory. And maybe the bright marketeers might decide that a $50K STi is just too pricey for us conservative Canadians. That would be enough reason for me to defect.

I do know that mitsubishi IS realeasing a full line of dealerships in Canada. go to the mitsubishi website under news and under public and you'll see that they have it confirmed. Actually, heres a link (its about a 1/4 down the page. and yes I think subaru WILL follow, theres NO reason not to, only reasons why TOO do it.

And I heard that we are getting a heated rear wing to keep the snow from getting stuck between the rear window and the wing!!!!! Only that would be worth the extra 15, 000 for an STI!!

YA RIGHT! there is no way that they will be in Audi/BMW price range. (unless you mean an A4 or 318) there would be no point in buying the EVO or STI. I am getting an EVO, in fact I am putting my deposite on one tomorow at 1 o'clock. theres no way in hell i would pay over $34k for one. ther would be no point, if they are in the high 30k range, I might aswell get an M3 or S4. when the EVO gets here it will be in competition with the WRX, alhtough it will be WAY faster. I expect to pay around $31k. oh ya, and if you go tolancerforums.com , you'll see that you can get a LHD imported EVO VII RS-2, and it is street legal here, with AYC, and ACD, for $36,500 (price includes shipping). so therefore I doubt it will cost THAT much.
Does ANYONE see my point?

When you do, can you scan in the agreement from the dealer and post it here please showing the $ you put down? Any refusal will be a sign you are lying.

That'd be great, yeah. And while you're at it "mr. flavor of the month - mommy and daddy I just HAVE TO HAVE this hot car so I'll be cool - and I'll kill myself before I'm 19 because I don't know how to drive".... change your screen name.

If you want an STi so bad why get an EVO. All rumors point to the STi not long after the EVO so why not wait if its what you want?

Does ANYONE see my point?
The person you quoted is from Ontario Canada. The price he mentioned is $50,000 Canadian. Do YOU see his point?

Personally, I wouldn't put too much stock in VERY low production numbers, because in japan the ratio of STis to regular WRXs sold is almost 1 to 1. Additionally, great britain has had no cap on the number of regular STis sold (the Prodrive models are a different story though) so I wouldn't expect to see that here. Price, well, whatever gullible guys like me are willing to pay for one

Does anyone 'round here have experience with living in the US and buying a car from Canada, or vice-versa? If the STi from Canada gets heated seats and mirrors and the US-trim one doesn't, I want the Canadian-spec one.

No SOA warranty, and your insurance premium will likely be higher if any [safety/emmisions] items needs to modified. I'm sure there is more with certifing and registering the vehicle but I don't know specifically.

It's a PITA to do it. You have to get the car officially certified as to
it's american/foreign content there may be excess duties involved
due to differences in Canadian and American tariffs, and a bunch
of crap like that. As well, you have to have owned the car at least
6 month (or something like that) before you can bring it across. I
think that this is one of those auto pact deals to prevent cross
border shopping when (like now) there is a big advantage in the
price due to currencies etc.

It can be done but it is not as simple as buying it and driving it
across the border.

Day 1 - No scan. 1st excuse... 'can't work scanner'.

Follow up: What's the name and phone number of the Dealership?

Argg, I figured as much. I guess I'll only look into it if Canada gets the Mr. Fusion and we don't, then.

Yeah I wanna see the agreement like KC. Just curious really. I'm glad we are finally getting cool cars like the Evo and eventually STi (sure its rumor but all signs point to it coming).

Honestly, just tell me something. why would I lie? there is absolutely NO point whatsoever. It is not a physiological need, nor a contribute to the arousal theory. (if you know psych, you know what i am talking about) anyway, there is no point in me lying, it doesnt do me any good, or anyone else any good. Honestly, i have no freaking idea how to work this scanner. this is my dads computer, he bought the scanner while I was gone at school, and I am back now. but on to the point, I completely respect sorbee, but KC, I dont see your motive. You could ask me to scan it, but to me you seem like you are one of those people who likes to start thread wars, or flaming as they call it. but to be the bigger person, I am not going to place that assumption, and leave it at this: Yes I did put my deposite down on an EVO VII. I will be getting it in december/January.

Talking to a dealer today (yah they are usually full of it), I was told Canada is getting 50 Sti's. These are going to be 50-60k CDN.

Have fun gettin' one!
