Default fmic with td04

im trying to get my intake temps down and i was wondering if it would be a wise choice to get a fmic setup even though im staying with my td04? i would re-tune for the fmic of course!

This will create so much more lag its not even worth it.

Good chance you will lose HP as well.

get a CAI and get it tuned.

What kind of intake temps are you getting? Must be crazy hot wherever you are located.

I have a fmic on my td04, I was suppose to install the turbo right after i installed the fmic but some stuff came up and now I'm behind in money so I've been driving around as is. IT SUCKS! DON'T DO IT. haha sorry but right now I'm saving up for a new front bumper and a tmic because of how bad it sucks.

Are you still on the stock intercooler? A better top-mount would be my suggestion before a FMIC, along with heat-wrapping of your uppipe (if you have one).

A CAI is terrible advice, considering that we have NO idea what car you're driving or if you're tuned or any of that.

Do everyone a favor and fill out your profile.

get an sti tmic - more than enough for a td04, then get your protune

DO NOT GET A FMIC WITH STOCK TURBO. Your intake temps are perfectly fine. I mean it is summer. Once fall comes around you will be boostin like crazy.

I have a td04 with FMIC it has more lag but not as bad as everyone makes it out to be (but every car is different) but im geting bigger turbo soon thats why I got my FMIC but I would get a sti top mount they are cheap and will keep temp low

+1 for a better top mount, cheaper, easier to install.

Water/meth is not detrimental; infact its the opposite. A properly tuned single stage water kit will lower charge temps helping to decrease the risk of detonation and therefore increasing reliability.
The key is finding a reliable stable system. I like the use of a toggle switch, Bosch relay with a manifold pressure switch set to a PSI with a low tank cutoff/light.
If you are looking to keep it simple buy a larger TMIC such as the JDM STi intercooler and aftermarket Y-pipe.

Honestly It all depends on your motor. I got my car protuned at stage 2 with the TD04 and made 250WHP and 235 @ 14 psi, with a busted turbo. If I had a good turbo he said would of made up to 265-270 on a stock TD04.The tuner said my motor was way stronger then he has ever seen an engine, except my stock turbo was shot, huge shaft play from when I bought it. I have a big TMIC, before going FMIC with a stock turbo think about going with a bigger TMIC its worth it,.

^^^^

Do you have a dyno graph of 250 awhp at 14 psi?

Seriously stock boost is 13.5 psi and the car makes around 180 awhp on a high reading dyno. How the hell are you getting 250?

When I had a stock turbo I was pushing 240 awhp @ 18 psi....What I'm getting at is I dont believe you had the horsepower of a conservatively tuned 16g with a TD04-13T....

Whats high though? What are you using to view your IATs? If its coming from anything via the OBDII port, your IAT is being read at the MAF and no IC in the world would lower the reading there.
