Default Mash together Jeff Lebowski and Walter Sobchack and you get my Father...

The Big Lebowski has always been one of my favorite Cohen Bros. flicks, Walter's appearance is almost an exact copy of how my dad looked back in the 80's, +100lbs, but not so heavy on the 'Nam ranting.

So anyway we went out to lunch yesterday, we don't talk a whole lot, he's kind of a loaner, but my wife and I are expecting out second kid anyday now. He told me about how on his recent trip to visit his folks on the farm in Western, NC it was requested by a friend of his while in the process of dying that my dad spread his ashes on the river. The guy mentioned how my pops was his best friend.

Dad reflected back on how he was just a dude he occasionally bought dope off of. Not sure what the guy died from but I was told he did a hit of acid everyday for a year after getting back from Vietnam. When my Dad picked up the ashes, the guy's old lady told him that his original request was to have her douche with his ashes so that he could have one last ride on into heaven.

He then asked if he needed to pick up some cigars in celebration. I said no. He then suggested that we go burn some thai sticks instead. I told him that wasn't a road I really wanted to walk down with my pops.

anyway there really is no point to this story.

All right, I'll take the tactful approach.

Good thing that you're smart enough not to follow in your dad's footsteps. For those of us that had less than desireable role models for fathers, I say good for you.
