Lol. Great plans lead to great success. Do you think my car has come to be what it is so far without a plan? I've had a general "mod path" and goals set for the car since day 1. Plus, the dp is not something I can just throw on and run it until I am ready to get it tuned, no matter how much I want to, I will not take that risk.

I know, it was more of a self convincing post that I will not put it on until I'm ready to get it tuned. Even so that might not be enough. The HFC will provide sufficient back pressure to not mess anything up right?

So I was on the highway last night, dropped into 5th, punched it, and the car cut power and threw DTC PO244, which is waste gate solenoid A range performance. It put the check engine and cruise control lights on. I pulled off th highway, plugged my AP in to check the code, did a couple minutes of online research, an then cleared it and drove home. It was pretty cold out btw, about 24.

Did I over boost? And I haven't done the downpipe yet, which is why I thought it was weird. is it perhaps due to me going full throttle in a higher gear at highway speeds?

For those that don't know, my only engine mods so far are AP stg 1 (93oct), Cobb short ram, and a catback.

From what I recall Cobb has maps for people who are boosting more than target boost. Never had this issue on my stg 2 map and I'm catless. I'm run the car when it was pretty cold outside too without issue. Could be that specific stg 1 tune. Trying loading that LWG tune and see what happens.

That's what I was thinking I'd do, but thanks for confirming Kurt.

Anybody showing interest in the car yet?

Per the usual, lots of interest, no one has come up with the money. I have a couple solid leads though so we will see.

Cool. So I know you were entertaining the thought of a BRZ, is that the path you are still thinking of taking? and you have a DD that you drive instead of the STI, right?

Cobb OTS tune + cold + high engine load from high gear pull = Overboost/boost creep I would keep an eye on it, perhaps log it. I would avoid 5th/6th gear extended pulls when its cold on an OTS map .02

i just wanted to add, you should be ok though in higher gears if you punch it above 4k. this brings the load down quite a bit.

Thanks for the advice guys. When I was doing reading last night I was hearing some if this same advice, but I had never heard or considered this before.

There's just so much I still need to learn about with this car. It's my first AWD, 4cyl, turbo, and manual car (my wranglers are manual, but my camaro was an auto).

I'll just pay attention more at highway speeds. If it happens again I'll flash to the Cobb wastegate maps

Not sure yet. I will have to wait for my wife to get back for her lunch meeting which is at 1:30. So I guess maybe around 3-3:30. Where at in Hinckley.

Just north of 271 on State Road. We might hit up Allardale Park as well depending on time, it's close by on Remsen rd.
