LERSOC truly is one relaxed place.

I've made a couple of tune-dates, and met a few other members who are close to the area, and recruited a couple from the LegacyGT.com Forums, too.

Because of "real-life" concerns (yep, the Legacy is a baby-hauler!), I've yet to truly make a "LERSOC meet," but no-one in LERSOC has made me feel less-welcome because of it.

My fellow LERSOCers have always been helpful, knowledgeable, honest, and kind, and honestly, that's all that I could ask for.

Heck, with the "a LERSOCer never screws a LERSOCer" peldge, I know that I've "indefinitely loaned" enough tools to people whom I otherwise barely know - but have now become good friends with....and I've also gotten some smoking deals on everything from car-parts to home electronics.

I don't think that one group has to be exclusive of the other, but definitely, don't think that just because you didn't get the LERSOC sign-up e-mail, that you're "not wanted there" somehow - that was just a problem with the Forum software, and I had many LegacyGT friends whom I had to also "re-route" because of that concern.

LERSOC truly is a nice place for both beginners and long-time Subaru enthusiasts - young and old, and it really doesn't matter how much you participate (live or over the Forum), or how little.

----

I know that my word may not matter much here, as I don't often participate here, but FWIW I'm a known fixture in the LegacyGT.com and .org communities, and also on many speed-detections countermeasures Forums.

Wow Chuck, that was like 3 Subarus ago for me! I think that last one was back in 2003 when I had my dearly departed 2.5RS...

seems like everyone is at an understanding now... I just sent my lersoc info to get signed up and am excited about it. I only use forums for meeting new people and asking questions anyways. If Lersoc use to have Quaker as a hangout a while ago, then lets make that the place to meet up. I am dedicated to the subaru community and am just trying to make Ohio a cool place to be! Lump, why dont you and some guys head out next week?

Wow, I'm glad this is happening. I'm sure I've seen some of you around, possibly may have even waved at you before. We should have some regular get togethers so we all know that we can attend. Plan a trip to Mid-Ohio, you know, fun stuff. Shoot, I even have an HD camcorder, we could record every meet. Just some ideas...

Cant wait until tomorrow. LERSOC is a nice place, and the people are great. But lately there are barely any meets, if I remember it right since spring there has only been 2 meets and the last one was a picnic where only a handful of cars showed up.

It would be nice to just have everyone come out, weather your form LERSOC or not, it would cool so see all of Northeast Ohio subarus come through and just hangout.

wexneffx & AllBlk07,

I can't make it to QuakerSteak tomorrow but I am curious about the plans you have for your site/club. Can you talk about it here, or if you don't want to reveal anything yet, can we chat via email/PMs? I guess what I'm really curious about is how you are looking to have a club with a website but without any kind of forum for communication amongst the club members - unless you just plan on using the existing forums like this one or others for spreading the word and whatnot. Hit me up if you don't mind, I can keep secrets if you don't want to reveal anything yet.

Oh.. and I wanted to comment about meets in general.

LERSOC has gone through changes over the years as the member dynamics have changed. We have a pretty established group of folks that have been on there since or close to when we started it. We've also had ups and downs with new members who joined and wanted to shake things up. I don't know if you want to call it the culture or what, but the general population of he club didn't really put up with too much BS. I'm the Admin, but the club generally governs itself on the board unless I feel things are getting out of hand and at that point I'll step in with whatever course I decide is best.

That isn't to say in any way that new members aren't welcome - very much the opposite, as 'new blood' keeps the club going and takes it in new directions. That doesn't always sit well with everyone, but evolution isn't always cut and dry. We have grown quite a bit and there are a lot of good friendships that have resulted from connections made within LERSOC. That's the great part of having a club that is local to NEOHIO - it puts you in touch with others close by (relatively speaking).

What I wanted to say about the meets is that I hope you don't get discouraged by a lack of response or enthusiasm for the meets you advertise, specifically from LERSOC members. Like myself, many of the LERSOC members are just short on extra time due to jobs, families, and general life. As much fun as meets are, they just don't make the priority list for a lot of people. I can't honestly remember the last meet I made it too, and I'm the Admin  Its not for lack of wanting, but other responsibilities tend to trump the meets.

I don't want this to all sound like excuses for myself or any other members, but I guess its just a forwarning that you may not get the response to meets that you're hoping for and I don't want you to be discouraged by that.

If I recall, QS&L was where Dave got his car trashed and the cops ticketed a bunch of us for no front tags. That's why we stopped meeting there. We've met at various restaurants, metro parks, Cleveland parks, etc. Sometimes there are 5 cars, sometimes 30 or more. Many of us autocross together or end up sharing other interests and getting together with each other's families just for the fun of it. Lots of times we've had people getting together for installs with food and beverages to add to the enjoyment. And take my word for it, all ages and lifestyles have been able to get along over the years without causing much strife.

LERSOC isn't just a forum. It is a bunch of friends getting together and sharing the Subaru enthusiasm.

I can vouch for everyone that im friends with, Im at QS&L at least a few days a week for subbie and bike events, Im on extremely good terms with the general manager and manager there and can guarantee that nothing of that sort will happen again... I talked with Chuck already and want to collaborate efforts between my car club and lersoc to get some events set up! let me know what you guys think

Like I stated in my previous post LERSOC is a nice place and seems like many friendships have formed because of it. From my observation there seems to be a generational gap amongst LERSOC members.
Seems like those who have been with LERSOC from birth have all stuck together, and the new members are somewhat left behind (for a lack of a better term).

It would be nice to get everyone together, see new faces and just share that SUBARU bond. I propose the 2 clubs have a meet before fall comes around and maybe actually participate in more events throughout the year.

It's not that - its just that with the signup process not working automatically it's thrown off the growth of new members to make up for the other guys moving on.

It's got a hardcore autox crowd as well as the new gen street & track tuners, and the guys with tinker-box beaters like me.

I made a lot of friends on LERSOC, it was the first place I went to when I moved to Cleveland. Dan Griesz came by my house the 2nd week I was there and took me for a ride in his RS to visit Chuck (AWDrivin) just to meet some folks. A few weeks later in the fall we were at Beaverun at the Subaru Challenge.

I also got a job through connections at LERSOC (thanks Storm) and have been at that company now for just on 3 years.

It's a cool place.
