Hey guys.. returning member forgot username/password on old account. Got out of the loop around 08 when I sold my bugeye.. Unfortunately this when the changes in the WRX/STI started to happen. On the good side.. tons of new reading! I just moved to Fairview Park a few months ago and on August 10th i bought a new WRB 5 door WRX.

Any good places around here to get some parts or get a good tint job?

Also, what flies here with the cops. In PA i ran catless for years, state inspections every year and not one shop ever questioned it.

Looking for an AP, EBC, turboback, and probably some endlinks and other misc. bushings/suspension if anyone has anything for sale locally. Eventually i'll be touring with an EVO buddy to Agile Auto to get a protune with Hill.

ap : skip it unless you want to have the ability to switch maps...

ebs.. skip it.

endlinks??? why not change bars too... stock end-links are fine on stock bars for a DD

bushings.. yeah.. do all of them TiC race or comfort.. your choice

as for the tune.. I'd take it to Keith at PURE.... in Toledo..

way closer... and I'd bet money that you'll get MUCH better tune.

I think a ebc he could use for the tune unless you want to spike or boost creep, also depends where do you plan to do with the car?track it or daily drive it most likely? As for bushing I would really do those, change the whole driving experience sense of control of the car.perrin/tic/kartboy/cobb look some of those up for bushings that's just a few options I know to start with.

^^^ why would tracking a car or daily driving it have any bearing on whether or not someone uses an EBC??

just curious...

He is asking the proposed use of the car separate from the ebcs statement.

Yeah dudes. This lack of sleep is making even grammar and punctuation elude me.

Maybe it was the use of the word "also"
I dunno... I have 3 days to get the car on the ground... And need 5...

Thanks for the input! Couple questions below..

i'll be using this for stage 1, then stage 2, then whatever protune maps in the future.

ebs.. skip it.

peace of mind.

endlinks??? why not change bars too... stock end-links are fine on stock bars for a DD

i do a lot.. i mean a lot of sprinted driving. Most of which is in my hometown of Johnstown PA. Tons of hills and twistys. Anything to sure of the turn in, i love. On my old WRX this made a huge difference. I plan on doing bars also at some point. Are the bars on the new WRX much stiffer than the old??

bushings.. yeah.. do all of them TiC race or comfort.. your choice

as for the tune.. I'd take it to Keith at PURE.... in Toledo..

I'll keep this in mind for the future, i'm pretty familiar with Agile, my buddy who used to be on here WOR440 had is 05 sti done down there and i was impressed with the work. it was close to 500 hp on stock internals. Car might have been a timebomb and only meant for toying, i used it for a few months as a daily driver (5000+ miles), the tune was smooth and car ran great.

He now has an EVO X, so we are gonna both plan on doing some more aggressive stage 2 tunes just for some fun.

way closer... and I'd bet money that you'll get MUCH better tune.
Any cop feedback at all? I see a white sti drive by my place almost everyday, i think he lives on Wooster, sounds smells catless. Police station is down the road, and he doesn't seem to mind.

Future plans.. Toy/weekend warrior. Aggressive DD for a few months until i can find a decent DD.

For feedback on police and cats, it depends what county you live In. I live in stark, and we have no e check here, so I run catless. No trouble so far.

I'm in Cuyahoga.. on my old car i had a TurboXS turboback.. just bought a test pipe for it. Seems like all the new turbobacks have cats in the downpipe.. so it's not as easy. Looks like i can just use the self-service kiosk with CEL cleared by my AP..

There are still a few companies that make catless downpipes, the Invidia one is quite popular and relatively cheaper compared to some other brands. I'd personally stay far away from eBay brands if you want quality and good fitment.

I don't live in the CLE area but the only issue I've had so far is from 35% tint and the state highway patrol.

Yeah, definitely stray from the eBay downpipes, some have clearance issues from what I have read.

I have the invidia catless, and have had no problems so far as I stated above, but again, my county does no e check so I haven't had to worry about that.

I was considering it although I am super tired right now.

As for all of you with the legality of catless concerns... I thought that it is a federal offense to remove a catalytic converter from a vehicle that came with one stock, whether or not your county does an echeck.

Of course it is but no one can enforce it.

Well, I'm gonna get some sleep, if people are thinking of rolling up and have my number, text me and let me know so I can decide whether or not to show up.

It's impossible. I know a lot about cars!! When I first got a WRX I knew nothing about it! I didn't even know where the turbo was till I looked for 10 min then jumped online to confirm. I would of had no idea about the cats or location. Maybe there was one in the UP, I didn't know. Now times that by the thousands of cars on the road. A cop could never remember every cars cat location and they don't have portable lifts to jack them up and see.

Sure, but all it takes is a really knowledgeable cop and a mirror to do a visual inspection, granted that's not always a surefire way because of all the plastic undertrays on most modern cars. If they suspect no cats they could enforce it. Also it's usually not the primary reason for getting pulled over as there's no way to really tell from a distance so I would bet most would just stick to the primary offense and issue a ticket for that.

BTW, did someone take the WRX off your hands yet?

Not impossible. I your car stinks because you have no cats the officer could issue a fix it ticket, which could make you have to run your car through an e check or have it inspected (though that would give you a chance to add cats). If they (or you I suppose) are a douchebag, they could also call Out a dps/dot officer to inspect your car. These guys DO know where all the emissions equipment is located, and could hit you right there. They could also just hit you with a ticket for improper exhaust/muffler--I got hit with this on my catless camaro back in CT.

Trust me, I know laws, that's what I went to school for.

The funny thing about this catless debate is everyone worried about it has a car with under 300 hp...the cat is not an issue at this power level, just get a catted dp. If you're building a 600hp monster then worry about ditching the cat. You will be well over the $5000 mark in mods with that setup and you can just get collector plates. Issue solved.
