hah Jose, the seats in Dougs car is sex! one piece [faux] leather...still rather would have that with a harness bar rather than my seats now. not a big fan! man if you like my seats, take them away from me, i'll give you some cash for the swap.

btw- i like the one piece design. not so much after the two piece design...i suspect the TR seats have no adjustable headrest right? i've seen so many seats i'm confused now :X

no goodies needed to stop, it's not like you'll have to pop your hood to get it or anything.....

OK guys, stupid tech question.

I just put on my summer rims/tires.

Loosened the lugs, jacked up each corner, dismounted, remounted, tightened, lowered her down, torqued to 85 ft./lbs. (my usual).

These are my usual set of summers and winters. I've had them for three and two seasons, respectively.

I throw her in reverse to back into my garage, and there's this horrible grinding sound.

WTF?

No, I didn't leave any hardware down there.

And no, I didn't even wash her - so it's not like the brakes are sticking.

It seriously sounds like the parking brake was left on and I'm forcing the car to back up - but no, the parking brake is disengaged.

???

Going forward, no issues.

And no, I haven't taken her out for a ride, yet.

Tell me what the heck I'm overlooking?

Is/Are my rear spring(s) binding?

The iONs do have a lot of rust, and most of their outer covering has flaked off....

Issue does not seem brake-related. Going forward, there's no sound whatsoever.

All four rotors seem to have the same heat, after a few braking runs.

And after having backed her up the driveway a half-dozen times, the sound's diminished, but upon initial weight transfer - strangely enough, in the other direction, i.e. when I first start off going forward - there's a loud clunk, as if a spring has just unloaded.

Did I, in uncompressing the springs from the rim/tire change, bring forward a problem that was simply hidden, because they've been, essentially, rusted in-position all that time prior?

WTF?

Weird, its possible for sure. First what I would do is jack the car back up and make sure all the springs are seated properly. Also while the car is in the air, check the wheel bearings just in case. Once that is ensured, I would spray the brakes with water (to get them rusty) and then drive it around and see if there is any weird wear on any of the rotors. I know this sounds weird, but its a good way of diagnosing if a caliper has a problem or for instance a small rock got stuck in the pad or something.

I say check all that first and then get back to us.

^ Thanks for that! If the sounds continue, I'll definitely do all....

The weird thing is that everything just magically went away, after the first minute or so of driving her. Even pulling out of the driveway earlier today, when I'd expected that initial clunk, it was not there.

I honestly don't know what happened.....
