Default Going to college, what should I do for my Subie?

What should I do for my 1999 Impreza before I leave it for a few years? My parents are going to use it while I'm gone. Since I'm going to UW Madison I won't really be able to use a car until my junior year.

My neighbor went off to college and left his legacy GT at home, and it looks so sad just sitting in the drive way not being used...

Any reason you can't bring it/use it? There should always be available parking wherever you live. If it requires a permit, they are generally quite cheap for the year. I know some people have different levels of dependencies on transportation, but I'd personally bring mine along.

well definitely don't let it sit there unused..if you're going to do that might as well take it off the road..lose the insurance and reg. and turn in your plates..put her up on blocks so the rubbers don't get flat spots..and do some preventative maintenance with your fluids

i would recommend just having your parents drive it like once every couple of weeks though..can be something as simple as going to the grocery store to stock up on food

most university's will let you have a car if you have a job and work more than a certain number of hours per week.

Na theres no parking in Madison. None at all! Unless you rent out an apartment but since I'll have to live in a dorm, there is no parking!

My Mom and Dad went there in the 80's and there wasn't parking then! Now it's even worse! Plus there's no use for a car since you can't park near the buildings your classes are at...

I could stay at my Aunt's farm! That's about a 30 min drive to the university though...

She said I could live there if I plowed the driveway each winter...

That would interesting... She and my cousins are extremely liberal. Like HOLY ****...

Thats coming from a Buddhist!

perfect, you can plow it with your subaru. though with a farm, i'm imagining a 800 foot driveway

I accumulated over $500 in parking tickets during my undergrad because you had to move your car to the opposite side of the road each day and I was never around to do it. Rumor was the city wouldn't follow through. They finally did, but I haggled the judge to cut it in half to about $250 if I paid within a week.

Bring a bike and focus on school.
