Default tuner question

Greetings,

I am about to tune my 2015 wrx (mishimoto cai and exhaust) . Choosing b/w AMR Performance and EFI Logics (I live in NY) . Both shops are in Connecticut. Seeking feedback on both. Which one should I go with?

Thanks

You are in the wrong forum, try posting in the NESIC forum, they would be more likely to be able to help you.

I did order from AMR once, I had their TBE on my 2008 STi, and I like the sound, fitment, and it flowed well. That being said, there are A LOT of people that say to avoid them at any cost.

Search, both have been around for a long time and there are plenty of reviews on the site.

As a protuner, if I was forced to choose between those two options, I would advise you to choose mikey at EFI. Based on my personal and professional interactions with AMR, I woudlnt be able to recommend them for, well, anything.

Thanks a lot! Exactly what I was looking for. I am having a hard time finding reviews for EFI Logic on these forums. Maybe I am just dumb with the search function. Thanks again.

EFI does not get a lot of new england business I bet, at least outside of western CT (this is just an educated guess). I think they probably get a lot more business from south and west of their location.

EFI is in Northwest CT near Lime Rock Park, which is very poorly served by highway connections from further east. And there are plenty of other at least decent, if not great tuners in that area like Matt that are much more convenient.

I went to LRP recently and I was cooking, I mean cooking on the way. I had looked at maps of all the curves, official use only lanes, etc. I programmed my Escort max for all the above on the way, but it took me 2 1/2 hrs and that was blowing by everyone. I thought I was making awesome time on the way back as well, and I lost another 2 1/2 hours and I am close to the CT border.

So most EFI customers are probably from the NY area.

I've had EFI work on my car numerous occasions and never been disappointed. My only comment would be to call Pete@efilogics.com and see how far out they're scheduling work because they usually are very busy. Sometimes it can be a wait of several weeks to months just to get in, depending on what you need accomplished. Their staff is top notch however.

It's in Bethel, CT, southwestern CT and nowhere near Lime Rock. It's also very close to the highway (84).

I agree, it's location is literally 5-10 minutes off RT-84(Danbury CT area).

Plus, the OP is from New York.

Thanks guys. I want to buy an ecutek device to flash a mishimoto map they creat d for my cold air intake but I am being told that if I do that EFI won't be able to use the same license. Very strange.

I'm guessing it's like the Cobb AP where it put's a lock on it's maps. If EFI doesn't use that software or work with ECUTEK that means they can't access your ecu for tuning.

IF you havent installed ECUTek, you be better served just going with an open source tune or COBB Accessport as it provides a greater base of qualified Subaru tuners to choose from vs ECUTek. I had ECUTek installed and had a hell of a time tracking down people to tune it because once its flashed onto your ECU its near impossible for a non ECUTek tuner to totally remove it. I ended up having to buy a used stock ECU in order to retune the car. The ECUTek flashed ECU has been taking up space in my basement for 4 years now.

Cobb Ap not supporting cvt and mishimoto intake at this time

I don't believe EFI Logics does ECUTek for the WRX but again, check with Pete as that may have changed.
