Default 2009 caddy CTS-V runs a 12.5 1/4! Edmunds.com

BMW beater, with a true manual... This should be better than the half-baked, yet fast, previous CTS-V and not a big-engined dud like the STS-V.

Performance Tested: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V Runs 12.5-Second Quarter-Mile

MILFORD, Michigan When Inside Line learned it would have access to a 2009 Cadillac CTS-V at GM's Michigan proving grounds, we packed up our portable Racelogic VBOX III testing gear and booked our staff hot-shoe on the next flight to Detroit.

After spending time behind the wheel of Cadillac's powerful new sport sedan, we weren't disappointed. The 2009 Cadillac CTS-V, equipped with a supercharged 556-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 and a six-speed manual transmission, accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds (4.3 seconds with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip) and crossed the quarter-mile in 12.5 seconds at 115.3 mph.

Not really a fan of these "power bulges" on cars like the M3,CTS-V, 350Z, ect. I know they are necessary and I don't have a better solution, but IMO they look like hell

If it depreciates like the old one this will be a great car to get after a 2 year lease turn in.

Exactly what I'm waiting for as well. You can find 2005 CTS-v's for 22-25k right now... Although knowing my luck this won't work out that way.

really seems like this one has been thought out. I have notice a slight trend that certain brands (Cadillac, Saturn, etc) are not depreciating as much as they use to

this thing is probably a reflash/tune away from the magic 638bhp number.

very impressive for Caddilac. It handles / brakes better than the Nazis and how long have we been devolping cars on their roads ? ...and look it has an interior to boot !!!

I thought caddy quotes 0-60 of 3.9 for thar car? 4.6 is nice, but not nearly as nice as 3.9

Gm advertises 3.9, but the Edmunds drivers got 4.6. Either way, it's not too shabby...

My guess is GM tested the auto at 3.9 with their Performance Traction Management. That Edmunds crew tested a manual and probably with a soft launch and traction control off.

I wonder which review website/magazine will be able to pull of a 3.9.

Yeah why would you ever compare a new luxury car to a 60s cobra? Apples to oranges. Also compare an '03 e-class's interior to the caddy.

GM I'm sure gave the 3.9 as a "rollout" number, so not 0-60.

CTS-V vs. M5 - Road and track

Quote:

Un-precedented. That is the only way to describe this showdown between BMW's legendary M5 and Cadillac's all-new CTS-V. That Cadillac and BMW accepted our invitation to pick the drivers and pit their cars against each other at a neutral site for hot laps and winner-takes-all bragging rights speaks volumes to where these companies are in the sports-sedan hierarchy.

Cadillac is the hungry challenger, making no secret that it has benchmarked the M5 in producing its new 556-bhp CTS-V, right down to specifying the same Michelin PS2 tires. So hungry, in fact, that it agreed to the face*off three weeks before it would allow any journalists (including us) to drive the car.
