I don't live up your way, but I know for a fact that down here, it depends on how large the crack is. If it is just a dink in your windshield, yes, but if it has spread from one side to the other, no. It all depends on how large, how deep, and the inspector.

it depends on how large the crack is...but even then, your chances of passing are about 0.01%.

Thanks, that sucks; looks like I will need mine replaced before October.

Anyone know of a good place to get the windshield fixed in Richmond?

Or one of the mobile glass company that will come to your house and replace the windshield?

Richmond Subaru said they use smiley's glass shop. They quoted $340 to come out and do it or $290 if you bring it to their shop.

Does that sound about right?

When I had mine replaced a couple weeks ago, we re-used the factory trim which is FAR superior, even old, than the replacement trim. Saved me $60 too.

I had a crack in the windshield of my truck that went 3/4 of the way across the windshield and it passed inspection. They said as long as it wasnt in my line of sight they would pass it. It snaked up from the bottom on the driver's side and ran up and right across the pane.

You could always take it to Atlee Auto on Route 301 and see if they would pass it like they did mine. If not, you just put in a new one within 2 weeks of your inspection and pay the additional $1 to get it re-inspected.
