Default Engine "stutters" at high rpm and after corners? Help please

So I have a 02 WRX with 74k. When Im at high rpm like 5k or 6k (mostly in third gear I think) my car will "stutter." It basically would be like if gas just stopped getting sent to my engine. That's what it feels like anyways. It also happens when I take a corner to sharply. Not during the corner but 45 seconds or a minute after the car just doesn't do anything. No gas pedal it just coast it's way down to idle. The car doesn't stall tho.

As far as I know it isn't my fuel pump because they either work or they dont work. I just changed my oil and my fuel filter (it was happening before I changed my oil and fuel filter as well) so it's not that but I don't know why it would be. I'm changeing my spark plugs the NKG iridium this weekend to see if that help and I thought I would check to see if my injectors might be clogged when I change my plugs. Other than that I have no idea what it could be.

Can you guys think of anything?

Check all your sensors, like the oxygen sensors. stuff like that might be a problem too. mine did something like that, then my dealership replaced one of my O2 sensors and my MAF sensor and it's been running like a champ ever since.

i would fill up your gas tank. if you have any cel pull the codes and post em up, and change spark plugs see if that fixes your problem.

I don't think plugs are an issue. It sounds fuel related, but did you say it happens 45 seconds after you make a hard turn?
I don't know what would take that long to cause an issue. Unless the pump didn't get enough gas as you were turning and it cause a little air pocket in the lines and the fuel in the lines runs out a few seconds after the turn is made causing a stutter for a second or 2.

it's around 45 seconds. I haven't times it or anything it just isn't happening during the corner it's after I'm out of the corner and driving straight again.

As for the air bubble int eh line that's a possibility but if that was the case then wouldn't my engine just stall? Because it continues to run. It's basically the equivalent of putting the clutch but i can't increase the amount of gas going to the engine.

I didn't catch the 45 second part. If it was a low gas tank level then the power loss would happen immediately. It just happened to me today in fact. The gas light was on and I floored it from a stop while taking a right turn. The tires spun in first, I brought it up to 6500, shifted into second, it got up to about 4k, and bam power loss for about 1/2 a second like no fuel was getting to the injectors.

What's happening to you is clearly different. I'll have to think about it some more.

So i put some more gas in my car just to make sure it was the low fuel thing and I only tried it once but it didn't seem to stutter around corners this time. If that is the problem is there any way to fix it. I still had a 1/4 tank left and i don't want to have to worry about taking corners to sharp if i have less than half a tank.

I was running into the same problem going around the clover leafs on and off the highway in my '02 WRX swapped GF. It was a delayed stutter/hesitation. It was well after I had finished the turn and was merging in traffic. I also felt it while on the track last weekend. I was ripping down the straight but not flooring it (it was the yellow lap so I wasn't going all out). 4th gear 1/2 throttle I think. I just felt a little hesitation. Like a misfire or soft fuel cut. Then normal from there on out. Again, well past the corner and plenty of gas.

The last time getting on the highway I had a full tank of gas. And I did replace my plugs b4 the track day. I am going to get this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA:IT&ih=011
Since I have the older '96 gas tank there are less baffles and this OEM sock "surround" should help with the slop.

here is another option i could be a stopped up catylic converter.i had the promblem not on my wrx but on my nissan maxima se and i would be driving at about 60mph and around 4000 rpm and my tach would go back in fourth from 4000 to 7000 and it turned and it turned out to be a stopped up catylic convereter.i am not saying that is what it is but i kind of sounds like it.

pull off your fuel socks and clean them well with carb cleaner and compresseed air.

the sock is the first fuel filter and is mounted to the bottom of the fuel pump.

I'm fully catless and I already replaced my pump with my old STi pump I had laying around the cellar. FWIW it had the exact same part number as the WRX pump I took out.

I'm installing the STi fuel pump assembly so I can add the little surge tank subaru started using. I'm pretty positive my problem isn't the fuel pump. I am going to add a grounding kit just for the heck of it.

pulling the FP and the sock is done from the trunk but it's way easier to pull your back seat and do it from there. It's an oval cover about the size of a 6x9 speaker. It's also a little easier if your tank is only 1/4 full.
