Default Halifax WRX search?

Hi

It seemed to me that there used to be a way to do a geographic search by Province/State.... I can't seem to find it now though. Does anyone know how to do this?

I was kind of curious as to WRX owners in the Halifax area....

Tim.

Default WRX In HFX

Well i hope to be one this summer! Im moving back east from WPG in a couple of weeks and the forester is in need of replacing with a WRX. Ive driven one out here and love it. When I used to live out there I tried to find other subie people and it wasnt easy.

Good luck in your search.

Hi guys,

Haven't posted in a while, got shot down for asking a valid question on the US side. It's definitely friendlier here.

Weather's gettin' nicer everyday, hint hint time for a maritimer meet?

Having a meet....sounds like a good idea. I would say mid or end of April? If it's in Fredericton, Saint John, Moncton or maybe even Halifax, I'm game!!!!! Let's plan on a Friday or a Saturday so we can hit the bars.....

Hey guys! How's it going?
End of April would be better for me, my last exam is the 21st. I'm going to Cape Breton at the end of April as well, but that'll be during the week(I think), so I have the weekends to myself. Anywhere is good for me! I have to go get the Justy this weekend at Halifax. My sister is scared of driving it, so my father wants me to go pick it up. Apparently it's making some awful noise. I'm bringing the cell phone just in case.

WRX-78, you got blocked?

Someone around town (Halifax)has a WRB WRX with the full yellow decal kit - sides, windows, front & back. My office overlooks the bridge and I see them scooting back and forth.

Would definately make it hard to talk your way out of a ticket.....'are you sure it was this WRX, officer?' ;-)

Tim.

Like my car? It's an attention getter. - Probably too much attention! Got a good deal an the decals. Looking at OZ prodrive P1 gold wheels - should be pretty sharp.

Hahaha! That is you? Glad I didn't say anything snarky! hahaha :-)

I am in Metropolitan Place (tower by the MacDonald Bridge) There is another WRX (red wagon) in the building. (we both park inside). There is a silver one that parks over at Purdy's Wharf as well.

I am running the DMS Golds, 4-pot Wilwoods up front, STi shifter, and the Factory body kit all around... Oh, I also have front and rear skid plates (well, it IS a rally car!). I am thinking about the Racing Sparco Viper R's for wheels, but keep choking on the price..... That, and possibly one of the APS upgrades from Cobb this summer.

Oh, and did you know that John and Clarke Paynter are local to us as well? (Famous Canadian Rally Type Guys ;-) ) I think Clarke has a blue sedan now as well and he is downtown Haifax too. John is in Sackville and last time I saw, still had a silver WRX wagon in the yard.

Default John Paynter

John Paynter took my WRX for a spin today. What a great guy! He was picking up his black SW WRX today - they were preparing it for him. BBS wheels with TOYO proxie's. SWEET!

He also said that he was good friends with Tim. I assume it is the same Tim on this form. John said that you were the person to ask about setups for the WRX & that you have done the reasearch - I have a few suspension questions to ask you if you don't mind. Should meet somewhere?

You are actually infamous!

I spent a bit of time on an east coast import board.

www.lowmotion.org

They were all wondering about your car.

They are mostly Haligonians but I don't post there anymore. One reason is I'm in Toronto now, and you can imagine how well that goes over. They have some OK cars and members but most are the: "Damn yo my ride is Phat 4 sure" types. You know the kind who have watched the "Fast an the Furious" too many times.

Default Re: Suspension questions

WRC51:

Yes, John and I have known each other for a while :-) By all means give me a call (office 466-1796) on your suspension questions. Though in my research, the answer boiled down to if you could afford DMS Golds, get them - so I didn't look in depth at a lot of other alternatives. There were some teething problems initially with fitting them to the Canadian/US cars, but that is all sorted out now and they work great.

If you like to drive fast and if you haven't already done so, you should consider doing one of the driving schools at Atlantic Motorsport Park. There are several to choose from and it will be the best upgrade money you will ever spend (upgrading the nut behind the wheel!). I can get you the contact information if you like, but there are the BMW/Porsche High Performance Schools twice in the summer and the Regional Race schools twice per year. The BMW/Porsche version has more exercises and theory, while the others have more open track time - both are worthwhile. The BMW is (i think, but don't hold me to it) <$500 and the regional is <$250

Cheers, Tim.

Thumbs up track day

Tim,

Thanks for the info. I will get in touch with you soon. This time of year is extremely busy for me. I am interested in a track day with my car.

I'm also taking the motorcycle racing course this summer with my Honda RC51 at AMP this summer and having a track daywith a group from freedom cycle. I believe there is always room for improvement when it comes to the driver!

I will check out the AMP website and get the info. Should be fun!

Hi folks -

Hadn't checked the Canadian Region Forum for a while. Nice to see some local boys on here. I work in Purdy's Wharf so if you see a silver wagon that would be mine. No mods other than TurboXS Unichip and Pirelli Winters for the 6 months of the year when they are needed. Springs maybe in a couple of months - although springs specific to wagons are a a problem to find. Be interested in local experiences with dealers, mods that work or not, etc.

Hey WRXTom! I see your car in it's corner spot each time I visit Purdy's or the Sheraton. I'm curious to know of your experiences with the Unichip....

WRXFiles -
I was one of the early TurboXS Unichippers. In case you haven't been following, that version of the harness would give full boost at part throttle and had a replacement restrictor hose. TurboXS has updated their product so that full boost comes on at 40% throttle position and uses the stock restrictor hose. I just send mine back yesterday afternoon for the update.

The previous version made a huge difference in performance but the full boost at part throttle resulted in pulled timing after a couple of months of use - might have been related to the colder weather. The install is straightforward.

I might go for the TurboXS downpipe/midpipe ($649US) and keep the stock muffler - cheaper and quieter.
