Question Air Flow reading 00.00% on S-AFC????

Ok I have an S-AFC in my car and it has been there for about 9 months. Now my Air Flow reading is not coming out. All of the others read but the Air Flow one reads 000% and doesnt move. Anyone know what that means? Is a sensor gone?

I am guessing my MAF is gone.

The MAF sensor could be faulty, but the car should run horribly without it. I'd check the SAFC wiring connections to your ECU first .

See I thought it might be a wiring problem, but the S-AFC has been in there for almost 1 year and I have had no problems till now.

This may sound dumb, butis there a way to look at the MAF to see if it is dead? Like the little metal prongs arent touching or anything along those lines?

The key question here, as stated above, did the car run horribly different after you noticed the AF ratio was not beeing displayed? If your car is running as normal just no AF reading is showing up on your SAFC I would say it is a wiring problem, even though you have had it on for a year. Without the maf your car wont even idle smoothly much less drive downtowne or on the highway normally.

No the car was driving absolutly fine. So you say I may have a wire problem?

Next thing..... I just started my car and let it idle a bit. The car was idling absolutly fine, but when I hit the gas gently the car would stall. Anyone have any ideas what that means? Could there be a setting on my S-AFC that is messed up?

Was the car warmed up when you hit the gas and it stalled?

Also do you have any other mods like a lightened flywheel?

I have a feeling if your MAF was blown the ECU would throw a fit and switch to limp mode which uses a dumby (Really Rich) fuel map and also wont allow you to go above 3-4k rpm. You would have definitely noticed if this happened.

Ya car was warmed up and everything. Just sitting in my parking lot, It was idling fine then I tapped the gas and it stalls. Now if I blip it first to like 3000 then set to idle it is fine.

So you all would recommend checking the wires?

Is there a way I can contact you? AIM? or anything 99GT?

Thanks for your help.

Ok well I just tinkered a bit and I got the Air flow reading again. I am reseting the ecu to see if that does anything. The air flow was doing nothing before and now it is reading. We will find out!

Thanks for all the help!
