It is pretty straight forward on the new cars. Unplug the old one and remove. Place new harness in, plug everything in. Maybe have to splice a few things and fire it up.

Older cars are much more difficult to swap.

awesome thanks... So run the STi ECU with the Harness

my shop told me there might be some people who make adapters for the WRX harness to fit the 5 pins on the STi ECU is there anything to that... i mean is it worth it or is it reliable do they even exists?

I wouldn't bother with an adapter if you have access to the STi harness and ECU. Much more reliable just to swap out the parts that are supposed to be in there. Worth it in the long run to use the oem STi parts.

from what i've heard it depends on if you're doing the harness as well... if you're not converting the harness and ECU then no. but i'm pretty sure the dashes on the 04 are plug and play with the 02's anyways.

Yeah I was talking about a harness merge...but I don't think I'm going that route anymore...so if anyone needs an 04 Sti harness, engine and dash, dbw pedal and wiring, just give me a shout! Ill cut ya a deal...so my next question, how well is the stock Wrx ecu gonna like the ej257??? Tune it quick? Don't drive it till tune? ?

for a harness merge you need an adapter so the four pins on the wrx ecu match up to your new sti ecu which has five

from my research don't or you can't run the wrx on the swap unless you change alot of info on the ecu instead get an adapter for your stock harness to fit into the STi ECU

I have an 06 STi going into my 02. I was going to swap the harness, pedal and all that, but decided it would be much easier to just swap the manifold and get the car going. Maybe down the road when I have something else to drive back and forth to work I'll take the time and swap the harness in and get my AVCS back.
