Default Air filter and cabin filter size for 2008 WRX?

Hi,

I've got ~8,250 miles on my 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX 5MT Sedan and I am going to change the engine air filter and in-cabin air filter at 9,000 miles. I am having a hard time finding out the correct sizes for both filters.

For the engine air filter, a couple of online Parts Catalogs state that the Fram CA4309 air filter is the correct fit, but I already purchased this and it is not the right size. From the research I have done, the correct air filter size is more square-shaped, is identical to the 2007+ Legacy 2.5 Turbo which is a Fram CA 9997 size air filter.

As for the in-cabin air filter (located in the glovebox to filter the air conditioning), these same online parts catalogs also offer part numbers/sizes for filters from WIX and Beck Arnley, but now I question their integrity because they were wrong about the filter sizes.

If anyone has any part/size info for engine intake air filter and cabin air AC filter for the 2008 WRX, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
MrElussive

Why you want to replace these now is beyond me...did you drive behind a manure spreader for 50 miles or something? If you are that concerned about filtration, your BEST bet is to get OEM components as they filter better than anything else you can buy from the aftermarket.

Went to a Subaru dealership the other day and they wanted to charge me $21.35 for the air filter and they did not have the cabin filter in stock. And I didn't even want to know what this dealership was going to charge me for the cabin filter even if they did have it. They also wanted $1.16 for crush rings...crazy.

When I had 6,000 miles on the vehicle I pulled out the air filter it was pretty darn disgusting. Cleaned it out a bit with compressed air and put it back in. I pulled out the cabin air filter yesterday for the first time (at my 8,250 miles) and I found the same thing...lots of crap in there. There was also a 1-inch hole in the cabin filter! The owners' manual states to replace the cabin filter every 7,500 miles or 12 months so I figure it is definitely time to replace the cabin filter but when I google the part # of the cabin filter, I get basically no results.

I do tons of off-road driving for work in mud, dirt, gravel, you name it, I do it. It seems my engine air filter and cabin air filter are only good for around 6,000 miles due to my driving.

I have the Subaru part # for the air filter and aftermarket air filters that are the appropriate size, but I am still unsure of the cabin filter.

When I take out the cabin filter, the only numbers I have are:
523190-3602 with the words "SAE ABS" above that;
and it says 7517 on the side.

I can't find any parts for the 523190-3602.

Nice, I figured it out.

The engine air filter is: 16546AA120
The cabin filter is: 72880FG000

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, people.

checkout aircabinman on ebay, his prices are reasonable comparative to OEM.
For me the cabin filter was a perfect fit.

Thank you dude, I e-mailed him and he pointed me to the right item# on eBay, and he said the compatible cabin filter is part: G3210 AE000. I purchased the item and I am awaiting delivery. The part # I posted above for cabin filter (72880FG000) is the true part # for 2008 WRX's.

Default will it fit 2.5i (N/A)?

i'm assuming the spec's are the same, but does the 08 WRX filter fit in an 08 2.5i N/A? im looking at the Perrin filter for a little extra umph, but i dont wanna spend 40$ on it and have it be the wrong size haha. it says it fits on all 05+ legacy models (including non turbo) and 08 imprezas have legacy engine's, so yeah.

Default Impreza cabin filter

I found this on ebay and ordered two...free shipping!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HQRP-Cabin-A...536645&vxp=mtr

I check a couple other threads and it looks like the cabin air filter is a little different, changing after the 2007 model year. Mine is a 2008 and it looks much easier to replace.

Also, first post, hope this works and thanks for all the info!
