It's becoming that way since so many people are putting 215-225 on 9"-10" wheels.

I'll contest to that. I have 255-40-17s star specs and they measure out to a 265.

Doesn't look bad going down the road.

Looks good!

The tires running larger just make me a little nervous with fitment. Inboard wise.

Not on a Subaru, but definitely the widest tire I've seen on a car. 335/30ZR20
Rear Tire from a F430.

The other is 255/something from the front of a Murcielago.

Really great thread, just what I have been looking for, I have an 06 STi running 18x8.5 +15's with 235/40/18 at present, I use my car on track but want to run as wide a wheel/tyre set up as poss but without any rubbing or setting the car up differently..... not altering camber or ride height just to fit wide tyres on it.

I have already had the arches rolled and pulled, looking at purchaing a new set of wheels and then buy wider tyres, was wandering if 245/40/18 would fit? after reading this thread I am now wandering if 255/35/18 will fit? what do you guys think?

Dude honestly...I don't know. I want to, but not sure what color to do now.

Thinking tonight maybe just clearing the centers as is and re-polishing the lips. Or having the centers custom colored...then polishing the lip. I almost said cherry blossom red until i saw a photoshop of it and threw up a bit.

I may just get the outers polished and sit on the middles until i figure it out. I wanted to do a color but nothing seems to go too well with WRB.

I have an 02 bugeye. It's at stock height. Is it possible to run a 255/40/17 on a 17x9 or better a 17x10 +20 without rubbing until I lower the car?

10" is the max width you should run on a 255 tire so I would choose the 9" wheel. You could also run a 265/35/17 tire on the 9" wheels.

No. 17x10 +20 will require rolling, pulling, coilovers, and some serious tucking to fit. 17x9 will require a roll and pull at stock height.

So it seems a 17x9 would be a better way to go I guess. I didn't think rubbing would be too much of an issue at stock height since it looks like there is so much room under there and I see all these cars with 18x10 +20 rolling around, but that's why I asked before I bought. Thanks for the info.
