They are .4 inches taller than stock 235/45s to be exact. Pretty spot on match for the OEM 245/40R18s though.

In my opinion, you can pull off 17s if the the spokes go out to the edge of the wheel; the width and offset have to be in the right range as well or it will look weird. Surprisingly, the 17s on the white STi above look good even though the spokes don't go out to the edge of the wheel.

yeah I think 17 inch rpf1s would look too small

The most aggressive 17" RPF1 they make in 5x100 is 17x8 +35 and that isn't going to give you the look you're going for. Those wheels start to look good when they're 9" +35 or 9.5" +38 and they only make those in 5x114.
