Hey guys, new around here! Looking to get a 2.5 RS real soon to join the Scooby Fam!

I've been a lurker for a few years around here researching on my long awaited project to start: WRX Swapped 2.5RS (for winter driving!)

With my latest free up in funds, I can finally start this beast. I currently drive a Lemans Sunset 05' 350z with a JWT built motor Twin Turbo sponsored by Function:TUNED in Sterling. Here's a photo for reference:

Anyways, since I'm such a newb to scoobies, I'm curious if there are any shops you guys recommend/not recommend for anything? Or perhaps if any of you guys own gc8's with swaps, I'd like to meet up with you and take a look at your setup. I'm looking to get my RS within the next few months before the snow starts to fall.

welcome to the club. you will definatly enjoy a gc impreza, they are such fun cars to drive.

iag and andrewtech are good shops with good people running them.

I've been in this industry for 10+ years and have been screwed over by 1 shop with my first car... so never again! I usually try to ask the locals first now before spending even a penny.

from my cliffnotes from what I see on the boards:

andrewtech ~ best known for quality service by dealer trained subaru mechanics (really good quality service) and considered the go to place, particularly for transmissions

dps ~ not a subaru specialty shop a solid reptuation for maintenance and Pirouz (tuner) does open source tuning

iag ~ also known as integrity, great customer service, large parts selection, reliable mechanics, have recently been having visits by Jorge (tuner of high repute).

VIPgarage ~ not a subaru specialty shop, best known for providing service at a very reasonable price

Mach V ~ good source for parts and advice, mechanic is supposedly excellent. tends to punch home the fact that they are worth what you pay for them to do (ie. "we're not cheap because we do things right")

PTuning ~ not a subaru specialty shop, lots of parts at good prices, Tuan (tuner) is recommended by many, has the most precise alignment rack in town.

Agile ~ Hill is best known there for tuning.
