Default EJ207 Swap in to 98 RS: Suggested fuel pump controller?

Hi,

Hoping there is a quick answer to this. We swapped a Version 7 2002 JDM STi engine (and trans, etc) into a 1998 2.5RS. The engine starts (thankfully.)

The 1998 does not have a fuel pump controller, but I did put the walbro 255lph pump in there.

What fuel pump controller should I get?

I was thinking 02 WRX or 04 STi, any suggestions?

Does anyone have the part number from 02 JDM STi?

Thanks a lot,
John

It is the same part for USDM or JDM. You are bet off getting one from a newer WRX or STi as they have a 6 inch pigtail on them and therefore are much easier to wire in then getting the controller alone.

From the sounds of this thread it seems that you can retrofit a controller onto an ECU that didnt originally have one? Or is the ECU expecting one and the fuel pump is currently wired to run at 100%?

The STi ECU is expecting a controller. The 1998 only has a relay for on and off. I forced the fuel pump on for testing. Seems like any controller from the newer WRXs will work.

just so you know, you dont NEED a controller. im running my 98 forester with a 04 ej205 without one. the pump doesnt stop running but as long as you have gas in the car the pump will be fine (life of the pump will be shortened marginally, but if you need the car running and cant get your hands on a controller, you can run without it.)
