Well as long as you aren't stupid on a bike you will probably be fine. I say probably, cause other drivers are just as big of a risk to you. A bike doesn't exactly offer protection in a wreck.

Agreed. I have been considering a motorcycle for commuting to work. While I am confident in my own ability to ride, it is other people I am concerned about.

It's not yourself you have to watch out for it's others. With traffic as horribble as it is here I will not be buying a bike.

Think about how many close calls you have had in your car, if even one of those had actually happened on a bike you would probally be seriously aimed or killed even.

Yeah, because the way you drive, you would kill your self

If you ride like a fool, your end will come quick.
Ride smart, and you can survive for a long time.
I've been riding since 68.

I'm not going to tiptoe through life to arrive safely at death. We all are going to die. Don't let the fear of death prevent you from the joy of riding, there is nothing like leaning a bike over through a set of perfect corners with nobody in sight.

The majority of people do not belong on 2 wheels though. They don't have what it takes to avoid problems, you do have to think ahead and watch what others are doing around you and react before the problem happens.

If the weather here was always sunny and in the 70's I would sell my car and ride my bike all the time. As it is now I haven't taken the wrx out just to hit some fun roads like I did before I bought my bikes. (4 years) It has become a true grocery getter.

I would agree with that. You have to pay attention on a bike, unlike a car. But if you do pay attention and respect it, it's not too risky.

I have far more serious injuries with skiing/snowboarding than crashing bikes.
