Default newbie needs help on what car to buy

well im not buying a subie now but i will be in about 6 years. you see im in the military and am being sent over seas for 6 years. when i get back i want to but a 06-07 subie wagon. not looking to spend much about 15 grand. this fits my needs for practicality, functionality, purpose and recreation reasons. i have a wife and 2 kids so the 4 doors is a must. gas prices will still be high so the MPG are there. since im in the military i can get sent anywhere so the all wheel drive will help in any situation. but i like to do auto crosses and the drag once in a blue moon. i am a tuner at heart and cant leave cars stock for the life of me. i have a fully tracked out ford focus right now which im selling before i leave for overseas. so i want to get a 2.5 impreza or a wrx i want to be at 400HP to teh wheels but want to get teh best bang for the buck.

so my question is should i buy a wrx and modd that or would it be cheaper to get the 2.5 and modd that up to 400hp?

Doing an extended long tour? To where? Get a WRX and mod it...you can make them pretty strong and you can do it on a military budget...trust me Im on one now

You are starting your search a wee early aren't you?

It's ALWAYS cheaper to build a turbo car vs. turboing a NA car, so you must get a WRX.

yes they do. In 6 years you can pick up a 2009 wrx265(in canada) That will be reasonably priced by the time you get back. Why so long though, damn!!

Check out this thread for some info about the 400whp goal: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1393580.

Plus, in my opinion, fuel economy and 400whp are not compatible concepts, so you need to plan for that.
