Default EJ207 Alternator question....

'Evening ladies and gents.

I have a 2002 WRX with a EJ207 in it. The alternator is still the original from the factory installed EJ205. I've been doing some research and for the life of me I can't figure out why or which alternator I should get to replace my current alternator.

There is clearly a part difference between the 2002 WRX 2.0L and the 2004 STI 2.5L for alternators from all aftermarket manufacturers (napa, autozone..etc.) and from SOA. I haven't found any difinitive answer why these parts are different other than maybe the 2.0L is rated 80amp and the 2.5L is rated 90amp.

If anyone can clear up why the parts are different and give me any suggestions on which alternator I should use with my EJ207 (Spec C) set up, I would appreciate it.
Ryan

EJ207 is not a factory equipped motor for the 2002 WRX (USDM). So the VIN for my car doesn't match the motor. That's why I'm looking for some insight whether to use a 2004 STI alternator or a 2002 WRX alternator.

And if someone can tell me what the difference between them is.
