Default 0-60 4 1/4 times with SPO stage 0.5

For those interested, the SPO stage 0 has a k&n, solid response boost control system and a borla exhaust. Before the swap my best 0-60 was 5.6 (I believe). I never did the 1/4 mile. After the change I drove the car for a while and recently g-teched it again (same g-tech, same place, similiar temperature0.

0-60 4.9 sec

1/4 13.9 @ 100.8 MPH

Sounds cool... Kinda wished you would have run the 1/4 mile stock though...

I'd like to have seen the increase in your trap speed before vs after... a real indicator of the power increase. Since your 0-60 is pretty spot on for stock, I'll assume you got the launch down. I wonder if your quarter mile time is also 0.7 seconds quicker than it was stock... if so, thats a pretty good improvement...

Excellent. I have some questions for you.

How noisy is the stage .5 over stock?

How much boost are you running now?

It (with the borla) is much louder than stock. I definate rumble. As I left the muffler shop I said to myself "what am I doing I am not 16 years old any more". It has actually grown on me and I get thumbs up from young and old alike.

I did not notice a diff with the exhaust only, but the boost controller made a HUGE diff. The above run was at about 14.5-15lbs. I have had it as high as 17 and it was crazy fast. As it is now it still rips for my taste. I may turn the wick up in a few weeks and adjust it to the higher temperatures (when and if they come!!). We are lucky here as good fuel at 94 octane is readily available and ther is no audible ping, rattle, knock...whatever. My buddy has the 6 speed BMW 540. I took him 0-60 stock by a bit and was about even on the highway. I now destroy him both stop light to stop light and big time on the highway. 3rd and 4th seem to pull forever.

All in all I am quite happy with the set up. I would guess I have about 20,000 KM (12,000 miles) with it and no problems (knock on wood).

By the way...man I love this car.

Wouldn't mind having a look at your setup one day... do you belong to the Montreal Subaru club?

How much was it and where did you get it?

Thanks,

Matt

Matt,

I purchased the kit from spomotorsports.com

No I have not joined any clubs. Two kids and a crazy job leave me little time for that. I used to have a crazy offroad truck that I gave up as I could't commit to the club and the sport. The subie is great as you can enjoy it every day.

I'ld love to show you the set up. I also have the boost gauge installed in the left air vent. Very clean and trick, did not miss the vent AT ALL over the winter, contrary to what some people predicted. It really does not affect the window clearing capabilities. I also had a custom leather interior done.

I am now deciding on wheels and tires. I don't like all the stuff readily available in stock offset and was leanind towards a set of ENKEI (either the cdr9 or the rpom) but have started to think of simply powder coating the stockers or having them polished. Something to make it different put retiamn the light weight and characters of the stockers. Also leaning towards 225/50/16 so3's or the t1. Not sure which. That and the white line lowering springs.

Brian

Let me know if you are very up to Montreal.

Thanks bingo,
I'll try to get in touch when I'm around! I know you're in Montreal and all but I'm currently doing a group buy on tires in Gatineau/Ottawa. I can get very good prices on S-03, that's what I'm getting to complement my 17" rota subzero. You're right about wheel weight, the rota 17" weighs the same as the 16" stocker. That was my main requirement lighter or equal to stockers.

I've put together a little excel spreadsheet with weight of different brand of wheels. It's sorted by weight.

It's located here: http://www3.sympatico.ca/matthieu.tu...eels_chart.xls.

I can't garantee accuracy, but it's a good start.

Good luck.

Matt

Matt,

I know about the group buy, you gave me a heads up on it last week before you went to LA. The only thing is, for the same reason you switched your buy to Ottawa, I want to still buy mine at Talon Tire. Are the prices you originally quoted still good there?

Ok,
sorry We're up to like 25 guys right now, loosing track of who I told and who I didn't! Don't know about talon tire, I was not the one that originally organized it. May want to check the montreal subaru club www.montreal-subaru-club. I know there is one going on right now, not sure about the brand though.

Thanks,

Matt
