Default TD05 18G 7cm2 turbo: who has one and how do they work out for you?

i just picked one up. brand new off a fellow member from here. just give me the basics on these. i plan on putting this on the car by january/february, right now im just setting money aside and getting other stuff in the mean time, as well as new software to run everything. after i get bigger injectors and a base map its all good to go. i just want as much helpful info about the turbo from experienced guys that i can soak up.

any helpful info would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

It's a turbo, flows aboot 600 CFM, full boost between 3500-4000, and it's freakin awesome. What exactly do you need to know? I would think research should be done BEFORE the purchase, but that's just me....

Works Great, I Love Mine. Power Is Very Linear And Will Pull All The Way To Redline, Expect Full Boost At 3600-4000 Depending On Tune And Supporting Mods. You Will Especially Love It Having 93 Octane Instead Of 91 In Your State.

any and everything. the more info the better. i just wanna grab as much knowledge about this as i can. i have done research, i wanted to this turbo so i'd be able to hit 300whp and above, given i had the mods to support it (and the gearset eventually).

I love mine as well. Ran 18psi on 91 pump and now tuned with meth/water injection at 22psi.

Forced Performance says that their 18g holds maximum efficiency all the way to 23 pounds of boost. There have been some people running 25+ pounds for race tunes... The main advantage, imo, of the 18g over a big 16g is that it's supposed to be more efficient at higher boost levels. Granted, your 18g will still pull great at 20 psi, but if I had an 18g I'd want to push it a little.

I could be totally off base, though. I'm not all that educated on turbo dynamics...

You'll need a Walbro 255lph fuel pump, at least STI pink injectors, uppipe, downpipe, catback, and a good tune. Those are the bare bones basics. If you wanted to push that 18g, I'd get a header of some sort, an inlet and intake, and a bigger intercooler.

You should really be shopping for a tuner, and ask them what they recommend. A good tune is the most important aspect of an aftermarket turbo.

I RUN 750 CC RC INJECTORS, 255 LPH FUEL PUMP, TGV DEL, APS TURBO INLET, AEM INTAKE, PRODRIVE BCS (GM WORKS JUST AS WELL), INVIDIA TURBO BACK, HKS UP PIPE, 1 STEP COLDER PLUGS, CUSCO HEADER, STI TOP MOUNT. I'LL POST MORE AS I REMEMBER.
IT MAKES 20 PSI TAPPERS TO 18, FULL BOOST IS AT 3600 RPM. IT MADE 289 WHP ON CALI PISS WATER ON A DYNOMITE (SIMILIAR TO A MUSTANG) AND 272 TQ.
IF YOU RUN 93 300WHP IS A VERY REASONABLE GOAL IMHO. AS FAR AS INJECTORS AND A BCS TALK TO YOUR TUNER, THEY ALL HAVE PREFRENCES.

Ive got 360wtq off of my 18g Td05 7cm Deadbolt. Ive also been feeding the 2.5l ethanol and blew up my 1st gear... Needless to say the 18g is pretty fun...21 psi tapering to 15.5psi

^^^ 18g do it right the first time and don't look back... That is what I hear from ppl all the time. If you want a quicker spool try porting it and find a good tuner/ tell the tuner what you are looking for

Great turbo, pulls all the way to redline.

Have a very conservative tune, as it maxed out the maf with a K&N typhoon.

This is on a Dyno Dynamics. It reads significantly lower than most.

i see......

You'll need a Walbro 255lph fuel pump, > check

check and check

You shouldn't be curious what other people run as other set-ups have no bearing on you. Call your tuner and ask him for help. And yes, I am serious.
