Default roof rack options ???

I just got back into mountain biking, and would like to install a roof rack. Would I be able to use the same rack for snowboards/skiis as well ??

The car does not have any roof rails or anything right now. What are my options ? How much is this gonna cost ?

its a 98 Legacy L wagon.

Yakima is good. Likely looking at railriders, polls, then bike holders. Consider a hitch mount and save on gas.

hitch rack... you mean that connects for a trailer hitch ? I always thought those things looked STUPID... but I could immagine how they would help save a little gass.

I'm wondering on the price difference and ease of use between those and a roof rack...( I would have to buy and install a trailer hitch as well....)

I also decided I will probably just put my board and skiis IN the car.... so this will only have to be for a bike

A little... A bit more then a little. As a bike has a lot of air resistance. Yet roof racks are more secure and more flexible for other uses.

plus they look totally AWESOME. i have a yakima rack for my 81 volvo and it works really good. you don't park in a garage do you? that can be a hazard. i have an upright mount i am putting on my factory wagon rack so my girlfriend can bring her bike home. works handy for hauling other things too, i've hauled a hood for my volvo on it before, just took the bike haulers off quick and bam its just like a pickup truck, without the gas prices. well not fully but you get the idea

haha yeah I'm torn between the roof rack and trailer hitch now... would be nice to have a "pickup truck" though

If youre going to be needing something to haul snowboards and skis as well, the roof rack is a better option than the hitch.
