Default Concordville Subaru DE/PA

One of my headlights went out about a week ago and so I decided to stop by the Concordville Subaru dealership after school to get a new bulb put in. Now I would normally do this work myself but it was raining at the time and I did not have a garage to work in.

Anyway I took the car there and they said it would be no problem to get a new pair of bulbs in the car. I waited about 30 minutes and a man came back out and told me that they couldn't do anything with my lights. His reason was that I had aftermarket bulbs and that their bulbs were not fitting.

To make things clear, yes the bulbs I had in the car at the time did turn out to be aftermarket but they were still the OEM style D2R just like the stock bulbs the car comes with. I asked the man if they used the correct bulbs and he said yes but this man works the front desk and was not watching any of the work so I cant take his word on that. Anyway I had to leave that dealership with a car that still had a burnt out bulb.

I got home, pulled my bulbs and took tons of pictures of how they line up inside the headlight housing and compared that to pictures online and sure enough everything pointed to the OEM D2R bulbs. So I rush ordered a set of Morimoto D2R bulbs and when they arrived I was able to install them in 3 minutes flat!

So basically the technicians at this dealership are not smart enough to even install a new bulb properly. My guess is they just didnt have any D2R bulbs and tried using something similar but even a D2S from the current STi's would technically still fit. The other possibility is that the person trying to install the bulbs just simply didn't know what they were doing and just gave up, blaming it on the current bulbs that were in the car which were aftermarket. FYI my headlights and ballasts are still OEM.

I will no longer be going to this dealership for anything other than parts that I will be installing myself. I cant trust them to work on my car if they cant even install something as simple as a headlight bulb. Worst part of all is I got charged for the labor of them having to remove the bumper to get to the bulbs.
