What? You mean people expect you to have customer service skills? They want someone that can give them an explanation of what they are paying them money for without being called dumb? And they except the same level of service after they paid for the product? How unreasonable! Hmmm!!

I'm being nice and not mentioning something else that was hilarious in your post. Clark, you're being sardonic. Not a good way to run a business. I used to work in the automotive field and I was never (vvvvveeeerrryy few exceptions) asinine with my customers. It is a repeated complaint that once you send the product your responsiveness/persona changes.

Another happy customer! Clark's emails are usually short and to the point. This is taken as a good sign that he's spending his time tuning and not chatting at the water cooler. The price is more than fair for what you get. I'm no where near an AW dyno and thus etune is my only option. I don't know too many people that work on Sunday, but Clark is one of them.

Compared to the COBB VF39 OTS map, my butt-dyno feels that Clark smoothed out the power delivery a ton without loosing any of it. It's way easier to make mid-corner throttle adjustments without upsetting the chassis.

Clark was recommended to me and now I have the pleasure of recommending him to someone else. Keep up the good work!

Over the last couple weeks, I've had the pleasure of Clark Turner E tuning my car, and I'd like to give my review of the experience.

In the beginning, I didn't even know how to log my car via my Cobb Access Port. This is how much of a "tuning newb" I was.

New to Subaru's in 2008 with a new STI, that car only received a few suspension mods before it was sold(never really a fan of the hatch, sorry).
Next was a 2003 WRX...but was sold a year later because I really wanted an STI(04-07 Model).
In February of this year I found a pristine 2007 STI.
Low miles, the modifications that were done were the best money could buy, they were installed at a shop I've dealt with numerous times(and are trusted in the Subaru Community), and the car was CLEAN!!!

BUT, as with any used car, you're going to have issues.
My issue was...it just didn't run right(previously tuned by another very reputable shop).
It was fast, no doubt, but not smooth.
Almost impossible to drive at slow constant speeds.
Always lurching, hunting, acting like if the gas wasn't mashed, she just wasn't happy!
Under full throttle I'd occasionally hit Waste Gate Duty Cycle, pop a check engine light, and there was ZERO control over how much boost it would produce at any given amount of throttle. It was all or nothing...like a 20PSI on/off switch.

2007 STI Mod List:
Stock VF 43 Turbo, tuned to 20PSI.
Forged CP Pistons
ARP Headstuds
KillerBee Oil Pickup
APS Top Mount
APS 50/50 BPV
APS Turbo Inlet Pipe
APS 65MM Intake
P&P Stock Manifold
Grimmspeed High Flow Crosspipe
Invidia V2 Catless DP
Invidia G300 Cat Back
Prodrive 3 Port EBCS
P&L EWG w/ 44mm Tial
DW 650 Injectors
Walbro FP

Clark came recommended to me by a close friend, and after reading his reviews, I decided to give him a try.

After my initial email, mod list, and payment, I promptly received my first of five maps.
I also received details instructions as to how to log my car.
Like a kid at Christmas time, out to the car I went.
New map loaded, here we go for a drive!!

Almost immediately I could tell it was smoother. Low speed driving around my neighborhood, almost zero bucking.
3rd gear WOT pull felt as strong as before...but uh oh...check engine light WTF?
Pulled the code, P0037, rear 02 sensor.
One email to Clark with the news, and he diagnosed my problem.
He knew what DP I was running, he knew they didn't come with a WB bung, and he told me to check where the WB was located. He specifically said..."I bet they removed your rear 02 sensor!"
Sure enough, the PO of the car had a WB 02 sensor installed...and to make things easy, he had the rear 02 sensor removed, and had the code disabled.
Clark was having none of this!
Reinstall the rear 02 sensor or your car will never run right!!
OK, a week later and with the rear 02 sensor back in place(WB was installed with a new bung TIG welded in place), let the tuning resume.

Fast forward a week and a few maps later and I'm proud to say my car runs perfect!!
The logs look great, the car is smooth cruising around town, and on boost power pulls like a freight train!! 20PSI at 2900 RPM, and only tapers to 17.5 @ 6500 RPM. Boost control via the right foot is amazing too. Very controllable, unlike before! I can literally give it as much or as little boost as I want.

Now, to address one of the complaints about Clark...the short emails/texts...
Yes, his responses are short.
BUT, they are short and to the point.
Never once did he NOT answer my question, and his responses were always prompt. After I'd email him my logs, I'd always get a response that evening with an updated map.
Seriously, what more could you ask for.
I realized I wasn't his only customer he was dealing with, so this was never a bother to me. This also wouldn't stop me from recommending him with two thumbs up!

Thanks Clark!
The car runs smooth and strong, and I couldn't be happier!
Hopefully, within a month or so I'll be contacting you about an E85 tune!

Also, in case he reads this, thanks to my buddy Ross(now owns my previous 2003 WRX) for answering all my questions about logging!!

Default 20G-XT tune from Clark is great

Clark tuned my car from cobb stage 2 to the following mods and i am 100% satisfied with his work!

2005 sti 2.5L running 91 octane @4500ft.
Blouch 20G-xt turbo 8cm hotside.
Perrin 2.4 turbo inlet.
Kstech 73mm big MAF
Process west TMIC.
DW 850 injectors.
Warbro fuel pump.
Tanabe TBE no cats.
Access port V2
Grimspeed 3 port boost solenoid.
TGV deletes.

I have been driving on his tune for a couple months now and it runs much smoother than the cobb stage 2 tune.

I took the car to a local dyno shop and the shop owner stated that whoever tuned the car did a good job. I then proceeded to tell him the tune was an e-tune and he was impressed to say the least!

next mod will be KillerB headers and Clark will tune!

Thanks again Clark for the great tune!

It's funny,

I've been skeptical and juggling around this "etune" idea for a while now. I decided to read this and a few other threads about Clark's etunes and for every 25-30 positive reviews he has, there seems to be maybe 1-2 bad reviews. And as I started putting things together I realized that the bad reviews seem to just come from the same couple of people over and over again.

I decided to bite the bullet and just paypalled Clark for a new stage 2 tune. I suppose I will report back but I'm extremely optimistic.

I posted this review in Clark's tuning thread but figured I would post it here as well since this is technically the review thread.

...

I contacted Clark on Monday about performing an etune on my COBB Stage 2 WRX. After payment was sent I received an email within 24 hours containing a base map and very detailed logging instructions.

It took a few days of taking logs and allowing Clark to tweak the map until it was 100%. The end result is a new tune that makes the COBB OTS stage 2 map feel... well, lackluster.

With the COBB OTS stage 2 map the car felt like it was lacking in overall drive-ability, especially in 3rd gear where I felt the car was really missing some power.

The final tune from Clark has this thing driving like a whole new beast. Much smoother power delivery and the car pulls MUCH harder through the entire power band of every gear. Power in 3rd gear is a night and day difference compared to the OTS map. Hell, the car even idles better.

Overall, Clark was very responsive and helpful in getting the final tune 100% ready. He even continues to work on the tune and responds to emails until the late hours of the evening.

I would do business with him again in a heart beat. Which I plan to do when its time for my e85 tune.

Impreza WRX STi my sti tne

Greetings,
I've never posted here before and I live in Phoenix. He tuned my car at Goodspeed and I must say my STI is nothing like it was when I drove it off the lot brand new and I now have 70,000 miles on my 2008 STI with no problems and as I have have the cash to pay upgrades for it I do it. The dealer told me to take my car there and I completely trust both. I get complements on my car a lot and I always tell them where it was worked on and I give out their business cards. I was at Sprouts here in Phoenix off Northern and 19th sitting out side the store waiting on my partner and this guy who works at sprouts comes outside sits beside me and says how sweet my car sounds and aks me if Clark tuned it and if it was worked on at Goodspeed, and I have guys come up to me at the gas station and ask to see under the hood.. No one else touches my STI.. !!!! I hope it's ok to promote a business but these guys ROCK!!!

Clarks etunes are the best in my oppinion he transformed my 2011 xt into a beast makes my past experiences with cobb ots maps seem weak and sluggish. I would recomend him to anyone and will be coming back for my vf52,intercooler,dw850 walboro custome map in 6 months. He worked all through the weekend revising my map twice and reading my datalogs. CLARK FTW

Clark,

Is the man, he tuned my Foz and its a friggin beast!!!!

I had asked for three maps: pump 91, FM, an E85 - His was able to fine tweak my maps and very prompt with his replies.

I just love the smoothness through out the powerband. His maps are well worth the coin an are just the BEST!!!

Keep up the great work.

Default Clark Turner Tuning Review

I have a 2011 WRX and was running the Cobb OTS stage 1 map and intake.

I am extremely new to tuning and wanted a professional to do an etune to make sure everything in my car was running correctly and to get a bit more power than the Cobb maps.

Clark was extremely responsive and did a great job at communicating with me throughout the entire process. I live in Houston, TX and because of the extreme heat Clark had to tweak my map several times. He was very consistent with feedback and always quick to send me an updated map.

He had a decent map dialed in for me but knew with one more update he could get my car running perfect. He sent me the 4th revision of the original map and I have to say that it is absolutely fantastic. My car pulls hard but the biggest difference I noticed was how smooth it felt. He did a great job and I absolutely believe he has the best etunes available.

I would absolutely recommend Clark and will be coming back to him once I go stage 2!

Thanks again!

Just e-tuned by Clark, and I am so far happy with the result. The car was Ecutek tuned at a popular Toronto tuner, but never felt right. When cruising if I geared down and floored it, I would get a puff of black smoke, hesitation then power. Boost on the highway would bounce around and never stay steady. After the tune, smooth seamless power, just like OEM. Driveability is better, and full throttle is making just as much power.

Clark answered all my questions and I will be adding headers based on his feedback, then back for a re-tune.

I read as many threads about Clark as I could before going for the e-tune, and all the negatives were small in the realms of things. I can live with one word answers as long as the tune is there.

For reference, I have owned 5 turbo Subarus, tuned in no particular order by, Four Star Racing, TripleR Tuning (Mick Kehl out of England), Yoshio (Japanese Automotive), Neetronics, and XPT.

Thanks Clark,

Matt

Well what else is there to say that has not been said about Clark Turner! Lots of great stories about Him and here is another great one.
I installed a cosworth motor on a customer’s car and 2 days ago the car did his break in period so it’s ready to get tuned. My customer got a family emergency and needed to drive back to California today.
Clark stepped up to the plate and helped me get my customers tune done so he can drive back to home; he kept in touch with me the entire time even though it was Clark’s birthday and he drove to Vegas and back. (I don’t even want to work on my birthday or if I go on vacation)
Clark, thank you for always being there for me and my customers!

Once again clark turner produced another great map for my11 forester xt. Car feals really strong and cant wait to tune again with him in the near future. 150 for a protune and 50 for upgraded maps is the best deal going. Clark is always responsive with questions, datalogs and revisions. This guy is the real deal and always gives good suggestions to make better power. +1 clark turner

I just completed my second tuning experience with Clark and I have nothing but good things to say. I initially asked him for a stage 2 map, and then just recently got him to tweak that map for a new intake. I never had to wait longer than overnight to hear back and both times my tune was completed after about a week of taking logs and back-and-forthing. He seems to do a very thorough job and I have no complaints about how the car runs. I would definitely recommend looking into his work if either money is an issue, or like me, you are too far away from a tuning shop.

Clark did a really great job tuning my Stage 2 WRX. His responses were fast and was very easy to get along with. I was running an ots map at first, but the car just wasn't running as smooth as I wanted, so I contacted C. He worked out a tune for me in about a week. The tune is showing no knocking with a very smooth power delivery. My fuel trims are also looking very well in spec. Overall it was a great experience working with C. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a custom tune without the time to go to a dyno to send C an email/text. Thanks again C!!!

Just finished up my stage 2 tune on my 03 wrx. I was pretty happy with the ots map, but thought it couldn't hurt to get an e-tune. Overall a nice improvement, although with my limited mods not a huge one. Clark was responsive and helpful with an issue or two along the way. Thanks clark - if i take it to the next step i would not hesitate to contact clark again.

Another very happy and satisfied customer.

Clark is truly the best.

04 WRX Mods:
STi TMIC
DW 850cc
Blouch Evo III 16g turbo
Greddy SP2 CBE
Titek Up and Downpipe
GFB Stealth FX BOV
Hallman Pro MBC
Walbro 255LPH fuel pump
Injen CAI
Cobb Accessport

After the total install, I emailed Clark and with in the hour, he sent me the map.

Had some minor issues with the Accessport itself but Clark was very patient with me and soon had me taking datalogs and fine tuning the map.

I was unable to get the last datalog in and had to return back off of leave and Clark was patient enough for me to return home and email him back later to do the final fine tune on the car.

After 3 weeks and a new Accessport later, I emailed Clark and after working out some minor bugs (all of which he knew exactly what the problem was) Im driving with my new Stage 4 map.

I will be recommending Clark to all my Suby friends as well as any future work.

Thanks Clark!!

I must say, comming from a good amount of great cars 2006 sti tuned by AMS, 350z, integra type r, and a 370z. I wasn't too happy with my new 2011 sti sedan. Checked all the forums and kept comming across broken ringlands here broken ringlands there, i knew i needed to do something. I came across clarks page and asked alot of questions and i do mean alot. He was as helpful as can be. I wanted a reliable motor with more power and being in Hawaii not alot of trustible tuners for these cars, for the price and service you can't go wrong. My car is great as a daily stage 2 no complaints here and with the fuel mixer map as we here in Hawaii get 92oct at $4.41 a gallon it really helps the pockets lol. Thanks Clark, will be retuning when stage 3 comes around and already told all my friends!!!!!

Decided to buy a new by-pass valve for the WRX so I went with Forge Motorsport. Talked to Clark who said I would need a new map for the addition. After receiving the BPV, with no instruction of course, and three different springs I contacted Clark who was more than happy to help. After getting him the info needed he told me to use the blue spring. Installed the BPV and did my logs. Third gear pulls in the rain aren't fun. Sent my logs to Clark who said they look good and didn't need any tweaking. He hit it on the head the first time.
Clark is great. Whatever he is charging you, you should double it for all the tech support he provides. At the very least you should be gifting him the money and picking up the fee yourself.
As for the BPV and new re-tune the car feels great, almost feels like a new car. The car idles 100% better and pulls forever. It also feels like the hesitation is gone when you first fire up the car and drive. Very easy to install, It took me about 5 minutes.
Again, thank you Clark for all the help on such a small mod it was greatly appreciated.
