I just tried doing this on my 06 STi. Is this only on the 07+ oem HU? Mine looks different from the pics posted as reference.

My impreza is the 1.5R 09 model, and the radio is from the same year, I dont know how the 07-sti OEM radio looks like, but if it has a AUX button, then you should be able to do a similar process:

How exactly do the telephone butt connecters connect to the wires? are you inputting the wires into the pins and then putting the connecters as protecters over it?

I've been looking for a way to do this, and this tutorial and the pictures are amazing. You guys are great. I was confident that 8 pins were not necessary for an AUX jack, but I didn't know which pins to use as the left and right stereo and grounds.
