Thumbs up Vik Fox: ****ing awesome drummer

I saw the Veronicas at the House of Blues here in Dallas last night. They were good, but what caught my eye was their drummer. Dude was ****ing crazy. His drum set has two cymbals behind him at about head level. During play, he would slam the sticks into the cymbals behind his head, then hit the next note on the downbeat. He kept spinning his drumsticks between most notes, and would swing his sticks over his head like a ****ing sword.

As drummers go, the guy is an awesome showman and as you can see below, he certainly has plenty of talent.

I wish I had gotten some video of him playing of my own, but all I could find was this clip.

Enjoy.

Speaking of hair metal drummers, many years ago I went to a concert where Bon Jovi was playing. Tico Torres (their drummer) pulled off one of the most amazing drum solos I have ever heard. I really had no idea he was any good prior to that.

One the friends I went to the show with last night agreed with me that the drummer was a chick with huge arms, but my wife and her friends argued that he wasn't. I guess we lost.

Androgyny FTL.

The first link in that youtube link goes to a '08 link with the setup you've described.

Not the best sound quality...but you get the idea.

He holds the drumsticks like a caveman but he's good.

Mike Portnoy is still my favorite drummer. Check out this clip its a drum solo with both Portnoy and Richard Christy

Yeah I like Portnoy, but specifically, I like how Vik showboats. Seriously, the band was good, but My eyes were on Vik Fox. I was seriously pumped up after their set.
