no tune necessary...a tuner can't do anything for a bov or bpv anyways so...nope no tune needed

Default Fully recirc BOV's

Hey thanks Dave for ur tireless hours to provide us with insight into BOV's.
I was thinking about going with an upgraded fully recirc BOV.
I'm assuming that by getting an upgraded BOV, i'm just basically throwing money away. Correct ???

not dave, but i will answer if you don't mind...

at stock power and boost levels, yes, unfortunately an upgraded valve is pretty much just for looks and no performance gain whatsoever.

Default TurboXS Hybrid on 2009 STI

Just went stage 2 and added a BOV. Got the hybrid because of the sensors and its perfect. Not to loud and obnoxious...

The term mythology can refer either to the study of myths, or to a body or collection of myths. [As examples, comparative mythology is the study of connections between myths from different cultures, whereas Greek mythology is the body of myths from ancient Greece. A myth is defined as a sacred narrative explaining how the world and humankind came to be in their present form, within the field of folkloristics. Many scholars in other fields use the term "myth" in somewhat different ways.In a very broad sense, the word can refer to any story originating within traditions.

Myth.. You cant run a bov/vta without throwing a code.. Personally I have ran an HKS sqv bov for over a decade plus on several differnt cars. Including the MKIV 1.8t, Mazdaspeed6, WRX, FC, Eclipse... ALL VTA and never once had a code thrown ever. Of course I had some backfires now and then

I have never heard anyone ever claim that it would throw a CEL.

I will probably get flamed for this, but....

If I get tuned with a stock BPV, is it okay to switch to a 100% VTA BOV?

Thanks!

i personally have not had any issues with mine or the ones on people's cars i have tuned...BUT...other people say they have had issues with them leaking...like i said, i have tuned people with them and i have one on my own car,and i haven't seen this issue come up.

I have ran Turbosmart 50/50 on my 10' Evo and my 08' STi. Never had a problem with them so far.

Default BOV Install

Does a BOV replace the factory wastegate or should I use both?

No. You no longer need the wastegate. Just unplug it and remove it.
