Default EJ20G block questions

Would it be worth it to swap an EJ20G short block into my 2005 wrx? I plan on reusing all of my parts and only replacing the block. I want the case from the block as it is closed deck and then I planned on using a stock wrx crank, aftermarket rods and pistons. What issues would I face? From the little I have learned so far, the compression ratio would bump up to 8.5:1. What about gaskets, sensors, flywheel, etc? Can I use another crank or am I forced to use the stock ej20g crank? Is this even worth it?

no

crank won't fit w/o maching ..
and closed deck doesn't provide any additional help until your over 30 psi
and most of the Gs aren't closed deck

cool...thanks for the info. i read something about the crank not working. and i don't plan on pushing 30psi - it was more of a precaution since i have to buy a new short block anyways. so then the only blocks worth swapping are an ej207 or an ej255/57 from what i can tell.

just throw some rods and forged pistons in there along with an FP Green and you'll be good to go

Dude,
You really need to stop posting to old threads when you've been drinking on a Friday night.
