I would carefully check the inner bore of the knuckle. The v1 kit destroyed one of mine. You could feel the groove it wore with the tip of your finger.

Well Ive had the newest version on for about 8,000 mile now. I checked last night real quick and the driver side is a lil loose. I love what the kit does but this is just from running snow tires and taking on/off ramps fast. Who knows what will happen when the summers go on or track tires for autox and trackdays.

You put 8k miles on the car since the new ones were released (after Nov 08)?? Wow you drive alot. That's dissappointing about your observations though.

I just checked mine after the worst conditions it's going to experience. It's still seated properly.

Sorry for the bad pics

This is the newest kit that has laser etching on the ball joint.

As you can see it didnt move like the old kits did but it still moved...

I just order the newest one and ready to intall on my GRB. And now again?? Should I return it? This is my first time order part other than JDM prodcut. I knew it I should NOT do it. Should have order zerosports or HKS one and solve problem.

lets see if this problem is only occuring on cars which previously ran the version 1 or 2's

zero sports one is an options but you do know that its around 300 for the ball joints and 300 for the tie rods

Yes Id say wait and see if its more of a issue of with people that ran the older kits and now our knuckles are now beat up.

I did speak with Tim @ GlobalperformanceParts yesterday regarding something else. I mentioned the problem with the newest RCA. He was quite helpful. Im sent him the pics, and he will be getting back to me asap.

Hopefully Jim @ whiteline will see this and chime in.

Honestly, I'd just buy the things and slap them on

1) they work

2) the current design has given 2 people a problem, both of which potentially had pre-existing damage to the knuckle

3) many of the rest of us have no problem with the current design.

The people who are still having problems absolutely need to be taken care of by Whiteline and Global, however, at this point, I'm not the least bit worried about the RCAs on my car.

I just put mine on and as soon as I finish the back end of my suspension I will be driving it and will post feedback. My knuckles were virgins. The kit went in and seated properly with absolutely no issues, problems, or hassle. I cleaned out what rusty crud was in there (not much) and covered the socket and joint with anti-seize. Hopefully williaty's observations are correct and I will have no issue.

Williaty, thanks for the tip on the ball joint remover, NAPA could not get the adjustable one in-store so I bought it elswhere. Nice solid tool though, payed for itself first day on the job.

I had the version 1 (2?) kit on my '08 briefly before installing the new version. One side had been walking out, but after >2000 miles with the new kit, I still have no movement. No track days yet, but so far, so good!

Hi everyone,

Good to see so much positive feedback about the new product but lets deal with the questions too.

blahhblahh, probably best to contact our US distributor, Global Performance Parts about a replacement set. They'll look after you.

rexworx, talking to the engineers the only conclusion they can come to is that the knuckle or mounting is worn. Did you remember how tight they were going in? They should be very snug as we tweaked all the tolerances. Did Tim come back to you?

Let me know and I'll follow up.

Best

Whiteline Jim

Jim, thanks for being a stand up vendor to all of the guys with these issues.

I just recently installed my V2 Whiteline RCA kit and as you said it was snug going back in to the hub. I didn't install the V1 kit so I'm thinking I'll be okay. I'm going to recheck torque back down there after my alignment and some hard driving.
Looking forward to hard driving as it already feels better than before.

Folks,

I got my replacement RCK in the mail from WL in Australia shipped straight to Dubai (great customer service BTW).

The ball joints have the silver wiring along with WL written on it. However, the tie rod ends are the older design (bronze colored and has a blue wiring on the joint).

From my understanding, the tie rod end was fine (as far as engineering is concerned) and the old ball joint design was the culprit.

If the older tie rod end worked fine, I dont want to bother WL shipping me the new ones. If not, then I'd like to replace it. Wanted to know if there were any known issues with fitment/design with the tie rod ends in the first place?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Lutfy

The issue that caused the recall was the design of the ball joints. The TRE's were "fine".

[As a matter of interest, when I replaced my kit with the latest one, the old TRE's had an incredible amount of wear in the ball and socket joint. I could tell they were bad when driving but it was a lot worse than anyone expected. Treat the kit as a consumable item and replace it every 12 months.]

Chris.

Ok so i finally got my car up and checked.. the passenger side ball joint isnt seated as tight as the drivers side.. i've never run the whiteline ball joint kit.. so seems like theres still a bit of a issue with seating..
