Default Tuned @ Speed Clinic 319whp/315wtq 04 WRX 272 Cams

I got my car tuned over at Speed Clinic and the car made 319whp/315wtq.

I think there should have been more but something just wasn't right with the car. Gonna replace the plugs tomorrow and see if it'll smooth it out. Most of the work was done by me except for the engine build.

Setup is as follows:

td06h-20g 8cm w/ 3" inlet
EJ257 bored/honed/balanced
100mm CP Pistons
TGVs Deleted
Brian Crower Springs/Retainers
Brian Crower 272/272 Cams
ACL Bearings
Grimmspeed Phenolic Spacers
750cc DW Injectors w/ walbro
APS 3" Turbo Inlet
Catless Injen Uppipe
TurboXS TBE
SSAC TMIC
GM BCS
Lightned Crank Pulley
ACT Stage 1 Clutch

I wanted to say thanks to Speed Clinic for really great work and to Jay @ Real Street Performance for doing an excellent job with the engine assembly and helping along the way.

What do stock STI's put down on that dyno? Could just be a hella low reading dynometer. You could always take it to another dyno and see what it puts down.

Your torque looks to come on quick and your power lasts till redline, no crazy looking dips or anything so the tune looks pretty solid. How much boost? Also, a quality FMIC would help quite a bit with that turbo.

Are you going with a larger turbo later?

I'm not sure what a stock STi reads on that dyno, but I was told it reads similar to a mustang dyno that is local. The boost is set to 20psi and is held all the way till redline.

The power is nice and tune is veeery smooth. It really is like a different car, but later on down the road I will be going with a FMIC and gt3076r. That'll all be after I upgrade my 5 speed first though.

Is this Bob?!

That was pretty quick getting your car in and out of the shop! Haha, I hope you enjoy the car thoroughly!

Thanks, and sorry no I'm not Bob.

Jay was gonna tune it this weekend actually but was busy so he sent me over there instead for the tune.

Ahh well if it reads similar to a mustang dyno and if you're only pushing 20 psi, then I'd say your numbers are pretty good!

Do you have any headwork? I have a similar setup except with headwork and an 18G. I'm suprised you didn't make more torque though, I made ~360ft-lbs

I didn't p&p heads but I do have BC cams, springs, and retainers.

Before this setup I was road tuned on same setup minus the pistons, cams, and TGV deletes. Back then the top end was nice but now with the cams there is a big difference top end.... MUCH better!

Its probably from the cams, lack of AVCS and kinda low boost for 93 octane and a 20G.....and the 18g will spool faster thus giving a higher torque number

My FP Green STi only put out 325 tq on 91 octane

The torque curve and powerband are what I would have expected and look great, but not knowing how that dyno reads on average, I can't comment on the numbers. How many miles are on the motor?

The motor has about 1000 miles, half of which are break in.

Another STi that was dyno'd on there with TBE, intake, and tune hit 330whp on race gas.

I just asked how many miles it has because since it's still very low mileage, it isn't totally broken in, and there may be more in it once it gets some more miles on it.

What kind of race gas was that STi tuned on?

Oh ok, gotcha.

I believe the STi was tuned on 110 octane.

hmm.. youre making vf39 power with a 20G and cams? hmm.. something not right here..

i made 351whp and 360 tq with my 18G on a stock ej257 with wrx cams... you should be in the high 300's

well enjoy it either way.

My built motor, T4 SC61, 19psi STI made like 370whp on this dyno and went 11.9 @ 117

So there you go.

not saying much... my stock ej257, 18g making like 350whp ~23 psi ran 12.4 @ 113... so 370ish should be around that speed/time. that turbo on the other hand.. isnt really shining at all at that level.

^^ you have a wrx which is 300 lbs lighter and has one less shift than an sti

im getting really sick of ppb......

people comparing dyno numbers across different dynos and track times and traps with cars that weigh 500 lbs different

but whatever lets all continue to compare it all and tell people they should be running better

My point was to show that dyno may read reasonably low because the track times (mph) show more 'power'... for all the dyno number fanatics out there..
