Default '05 LGT engine harness is the same as..?

I'm working on a building a car around a Subaru drivetrain. I've aquired a complete '05 Legacy GT harness, minus the engine/intake manifold harness. I've got the key, steering column, ECU and anti-theft box to make it run. As I understand it, the '05 ECU is open source flashable.

I know this is a CANBUS system. But if I use the harness mostly complete that shouldn't pose a problem. I planned on using most of the Legacy dash and instruments in my project anyways.

What I can't seem to find out is if there are any other cars/engines that I can source the missing engine loom from. Finding '05+ wiring diagrams is not easy. I know that the FXT, Baja Turbo, '06/7 WRX, and STIs are not CANBUS, but are the engine/intake harnesses compatable with the '05 Legacy vehicle harness? Maybe with a bit of re-pinning?

I do not have an engine yet as I'm hoping to get the needed wiring with the motor I choose.

Edit: Just found some Vacation Pics over @ LegacyGT.com.

I would normally agree with you, but I'm not trying to merge or integrate anything with this Legacy harness. The car is a complete blank slate. Everything in this harness will still be doing it's original function. Used in such a fashion I can't really see how just the fact that it's CANBUS makes it too much difference. I realize that there may be a few things to work out when dealing with the ABS, traction control, instument cluster, etc. But I still feel that if I keep as much as possible installed and connected, what's to go wrong? Theroretically, the "harness" won't even know it's been removed from the car.

Another concern is the fact that asking prices on non-CANBUS harness are highly inflated. Or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places.

The Vacation pictures seem to have provided some of the diagrams I need. I'll be comparing pinouts tonight, hopefully.

thing is car won't run right with out the cluster or abs ...

imobilizer talks to the cluster (probably so that it can't be swapped)
vss comes from the ABS-> no abs signal ->limp mode

its not so much the can bus, but the calls across the bus that are the problem

05+ are CANBUS
The engine harness will have to be off the same car. I have the simular issue of my 05 EZ30R swap. Just get the LGT cluster and fit it in the Impreza dash. That's what I'm doing. When I got mine in I sat in a freind's WRX to check the line up. Line up nicely. Other thing is the AC control and radio will need to be the Legacy one and as long as from that peice down you have an 04+ full dash set up it should fit. Here's a pic of mine peices. 05 LGT AC/radio controls and bezel + 07 STi lower peice.

Good luck. Oh and where and howmuch did you source the harness and key and imobilizer stuff for?

Why? I can't find anything immobilizer related on the engine harness.

Any non-CANBUS manifold harness is out (as suspected) without major re-pinning and sensor swaps.

Anybody have a link to '08 Impreza/WRX/STI or '08 Forrester wiring diagrams? If I don't dig something up by the time I get the harness stripped down and organized, I guess I'll just get the Subaru TechDocs subscription.

I got it from a parted out '05 LGT 5-speed for $200. Was supposed to get the cluster, but wasn't in the box when recieved. My research indicates that the dealer can re-flash any 'immobilizer' cluster to work with the ECU/key. (I realize that "can" and "will" are not the same thing)
