Default Just tuned vf37 + ej257 = 299whp/352wtq

I just had my wagon tuned by Dave Brown and Clark Turner on the dyno yesterday. Here are the numbers:

Baseline ........ Final
281.0whp ...... 298.6 whp
330.0wtq ...... 351.5 wtq

and here is my sheet... :thumbs u:

We could have pushed it more but Dave and Clark were happy with it and concerned for my weak WRX 5spd with 110k miles on it.

Here are some random pictures from the experience...

Load 'er up

Set the rollers

Strap it down

Are we ready

Baseline time

Datalogging

False reading

Some tweaking going on.

And the final results are in...

Next up, 6spd swap and push more power.

I hope you can get some more out of that puppy Mine just came in today and is going on my built ej205. Any chance you mind posting the rest of your mods? Sounds like it would be solid numbers if it is a stock longblock ej257 with a tbe and few other things.

Are you running the mani/uppipe/downpipe setup from the vf37 or other?

Torque came on well and looks like the HP was holding 240 till the pull stopped?! Hows the butt dyno?

I know that I am going to be hoping for close to 390-400 with 80-20 meth.

Car looks great though!

that's very nice power and torque for that spoolup!

How much do you think twinscroll helped?

I boost builds at 2000 RPMs and peaks at 2750. I'd say it's a huge help.

I built it exactly this way for that very reason... road racing and autoX. As some of us know, having better exit speeds and carrying speed through the turns is way better than simply having flat out speed in the straights.

Thanks Dave. I am working on the template for notching out my bumper to install those lights. They look totally sick and can't wait to get them in! Maybe this week.

Thanks. I expect to see a lot more soon. But this is a daily driver with a lot invested in it and breaking my tranny isn't in the budget right now.

Hey, i have talked to a couple guys that took a dremel with a barrel tip and just marked the spots that needed to have area removed and slowly dremeled the bumper down taking small cuts at a time...

i cant wait to see em!

You should be able to push more power than me. I forgot to update the OP... The turbo got destroyed in shipping so I ended up going with a stock vf37.

And as I said, we could've pushed more boost and more power but my tuners and I all agreed it was better to keep it conservative until I install the 6-spd. As it is already there is too much torque for the icy/snow driving I was in yesterday and had to turn the boost down. Anything more would be silly right now. The new tranny will go in this spring and I'll head back to the dyno again.

Thanks everyone.

Because the relationship between boost/rpm/hp/tq are not linear. There are many more factors to consider like fuel (volume, temp, and pressure), air flow, intake temps, egt, a/f ratios, manifold pressure, etc. For instance, boost hits 18lbs at 2750 and holds all the way to redline... if the relationship between power and boost were linear then there would never be any curves, no difference between peak hp and tq, and no drop-off either.

I hope this helps.
