Default TiC's 08 STI Stage 2 solidly in 12's

I decided to take my semi-annual trip to the drag strip Friday to see what the 08 could do. I haven't had it at the strip since it was stage 1 with about 1500 miles on it. It now has just over 21000 with a TXS/P&L DP, Grimmspeed UP, P&L Intake and a tune from Jorge. Still running the stock catback.

First run was a 14 soemthing at 99....launching with traction control = no good. I think I had a 3.1 60'.

Had a couple other good ones and finally got down to my goal. Hit a good launch and was out from there. Ended up with a 12.5 @ 108 with a 1.75 60'. The engine moved so much on that launch that the DP right at the catback smacked the ground a couple times and broke the gasket. I think the next mod is going to be stiffer engine and trans mounts.

Car put down a hair over 300 whp and 360 wtq on a dynojet a couple months ago.

Can't wait to get some more mods on it. 11's on the stock turbo should be very easy to do.

Tony

Nice trap speed for that 3.1 60'

I'd love to just break into the twelves. Your STi is a beast! Good luck on those 11's!

Yea, I don't think breaking into the 11 second domain would be easy on the stock turbo. I think upgrading the turbo would be one of easiest things to help with the goal.

12.5 @ stage 2? Nice driving man, I actually think they can do 11.99 or better fully tuned with some stiff engine mounts, meth injection, and less interior. Great driving bro, keep up the good work.

""The engine moved so much on that launch that the DP right at the catback smacked the ground a couple times and broke the gasket""

Holy Slop TIC man!!??!?!?! I've been outta the loop since selling my 05 STi a few years ago and buying an 08 last month. Whats up with that did the 08 STi also inherit cheap plastic motor mounts?

This sounds like a must do mod before any real launching???!!!

With an 108 mph trap speed you really have your work cut out if you think you will easily be in the 11's.

Uh... yeah you're right someone would have their their work cut out for them to "easily" be in the 11's with that trap.... unfortunately for you the original poster said nothing like that... i'd re-read...

Thanks tough guy

What mods will magically make him pick up 5-7mph and drop .5 sec on an already solid run? Meth/race fuel maybe, still nothing will be easy about it.

EWG, GT35, and cams along with a better oil pump are near term plans for the car...

If we get ambitious fresh balance, new valve springs, and total seal rings.

One of the things that we have noticed about the car is it really loses power in the top end revs so going beyond 6K really doesn't do much for it power wise. We think that with just an EWG and a little bit of work we'll get close, and a GT35 should seal the deal. Cams would be a nice topper to that to help the upper end breathe better.

We're not big believers in meth or water injection. Especially if you tune the motor NEED those things. In our eyes they are just one more thing to break that can cause a tragic end to a motor.

A catback, EWG, injectors, pump and race gas tune should do it. Although I think we are going to skip that and go for a rotated 3076 instead.
