Default 07 STI -- 421whp/368wtq -- AccessTuner Race -- Crawford GT35R

I was finally able to get my 07 STI back on the dyno and completely retune the entire car. While the previous tune was fantastic, I wanted to have a go and see if I could make some more power with a different approach. And it worked. I was able to pickup an additional ~30whp/30wtq after 6k and smooth out the entire power band. I dropped about 20wtq in the midrange from the previous tune, but I am also running considerably less timing than previous. EGTs are 16's all the way through a fourth gear pull. The car pulls like crazy and was knock free the entire time I was tuning.

This was my first rotated turbo and meth kit I have ever tuned. It was quite the experience, and I think it turned out really well. My logs are somewhat of a disaster since I had no working wideband and the dyno operated watched AFRs for me. I prefer to tune lean with less timing and in this case it really worked. I played around with AVCS to optimize drivability and overall power. It is amazing how much can be gained from messing around with the AVCS. Lastly, the dip as boost sets on was not on any of the none meth tunes. No matter what I tried, I was only able to smooth out the dip so far. It is barely noticeable when looking at the AFRs as numbers, but on the dyno sheet is looks kind of bad. Suggestions?

If anyone is interested in logs, I can post what I have.

I have typically only used OpenSource to tune my cars so the Cobb software was a new adventure for me. Truth be told, it is quite possibly the most unfriendly piece of software I have ever used. Call me crazy, and maybe because I am Mac user, but this software is just downright terrible. The only saving grace is the sexy realtime tuning. I must say, that alone is worth all the trouble you encounter from the software inconsistencies.

[Mods]

- Crawford GT35R .82 Kit (no BOV kit)
- DW 750cc injectors
- Aquamist HFS-5 with 1mm & .9mm injectors
- Stock block
- Crawford 3" rotated intake + Crawford FMIC
- TurboSmart eBoost 2 EBCS (f'ing love this thing)

Pull done in 4th gear. 3rd gear is the same just 4500rpm spool. Stock STI's put down low 200's on this dyno. Correct me if I am wrong, Mike.

Eh, kind of. I am also on the stock block and I know my days are numbered. I might be pinned at work this weekend. I still need to fix the idle/flywheel issue.

I just got your message and did not want to call so late.

I'll touch base with you tomorrow afternoon.

Got any tunes lined up for PIA?

Why not?

I am spraying a crap ton of meth. Only rocking 75% IDC at 25 psi. That kind of gives you an idea how much meth is being sprayed.

that power band is super for no cams, usually there is a drop off of some sort up top, but your tune has really made a nice couple of lines! *thumbs up*

less boost/leaving headroom will do that... i'm sure if he pushed the envelope a little, you'd see more of the "suby drop" up top. no need to though, i bet that's plenty of power

Thank you, sir. The car feels amazing on the street and actually feels 'slow' since it is so smooth.

I just look how well it cruises.

nice curve, pretty rare to see a curve that is still making power at 7k with the stock block/heads. and you're getting what looks like full boost before 4k rpms.

nicely designed turbo kit, and that much meth makes these motors very happy

...and of course a solid tune....having the 750cc injectors makes for more fuel economic car as well

Thank you my good sir. The dyno operator and I were quite perplexed with the 6k+ rpm power came up. A very well known tuner tuned the vehicle last time made great power as well.

The car certainly rips on the street.
