Innovative Tuning Shortblocks. No core required!
Innovative Tuning Stage 2+ Shortblock:
This is a complete fully assembled shortblock built from a set of brand new OEM 703 casting 2.5L STi block halves and crank from Subaru with upgraded forged pistons, upgraded rings and pins, upgraded forged rods with ARP hardware, and coated bearings.
After evening the piston and rod weights the rotating assembly is balanced to a quarter of a gram or better at 10,000 rpm to ensure smooth operation.
CNC bore and hone are performed using Subaru specific deck plates.
All clearances are carefully checked and adjusted as necessary to extremely exacting tolerances. The new block halves are checked for true and surfaced to a finish beyond the requirements of MLS gaskets.
When it comes to building an engine we believe you either do it right or don't do it at all. We do NOT drop in stock bore pistons!
This shortblock is recommended for 600 crank HP, 8000 rpm, and 27 psi or less in a street, strip, or road race application. Rally engines are built to order and use different components.
Innovative Tuning Weekend Warrior Shortblock:
Those wishing for 500-700 crank hp and 25-35 psi of boost require greater resistance to deformation of the sleeves and heavier duty internals. The Weekend warrior takes the knowledge we've gleaned from track testing and puts it into practice.
In addition to the stage 2+ parts:
Ductile iron race sleeves are installed.
Severe duty forged rods and rod bolts are used.
Severe duty wrist pins are used.
We recommend an 8300 rpm rev limit if you're using the factory oiling system with an upgraded pump only (higher with dry sump) and strongly recommend talking to us about a head/cam/valvetrain package to take full advantage of this bottom end.
Again there is no core required for these crate engines! If you are unsure which of our engine options best meets your needs, which supporting components you require, or to inquire about freight, please feel free to contact us. We talk to every customer about their intended use of the vehicle, fuel(s) to be used, etc. etc. to custom tailor each engine. Different compression ratio pistons and clearances can be used for those with special needs. If neither package suits you, don't despair. We can just as easily put together a different setup. Stage 1 Cylinder Head Service for WRX,LGT,FXT,STi:
This is a complete rebuild including:
pressure and leakdown testing
teardown and inspection
intake and exhaust valve job
decking and surfacing (in case of MLS gasket usage)
and rebuilding to exacting tolerances with new valve seals.
Damaged parts are replaced as required at additional charge. Customers are contacted after testing and inspection with details on findings and an updated repair cost before proceeding if parts need replaced aside from valve seals.
Stage 2 Cylinder Head Service for WRX,LGT,FXT,STi:
In addition to the rebuild detailed in Stage 1 the following SuperTech parts are installed:
upgraded black nitrided stainless intake and exhaust valves (stock size, .5 mm, or 1 mm oversized depending on usage)
heads are ported to accept the oversized valves if they are requested and seats are cut

In addition to the rebuild detailed in Stage 1 and the parts listed in Stage 2, Stage 3 includes very thorough porting and upgraded camshafts. Cam options vary depending on usage and whether your heads are non AVCS or single AVCS. Flow numbers are available.

Turbo Lines and fittings
This kit bolts onto stock and stock fitting exhaust manifolds and cat backs. All piping is full stainless steel unlike older kits. It also fits many intercooler setups both top mount and front mount, such as the Perrin FMIC shown above. Some require retrofit kits (sold separately). Ultimate Racing has produced a kit for the APS front mount, and another for the TurboXS/XSPower/SSAutochrome/Ebay front mount. Contact us for details.
Tuning, fuel system, intercooler and other upgrades such as a clutch are required to properly utilize any turbo kit designed to make this much power. Please contact us for details so we can help you put together a complete package.
Who is this kit right for? Someone looking to make over 400 whp (Dynojet numbers) on pump gas and considerably more on pump/meth or race gas. Built engine not required for lower boost tunes on this kit! Full boost is typically achieved just after 4000 rpm on a stock US STi engine at which point you better be aware of what's going on around you because things start happening quickly. This kit is not targeted at the autox/rallyx crowd, but it performs beautifully on a road course, on the street, and at the strip.
