how many inches in width is the wheels ....u said they are 205 and 215 for the option. do u divide 205 by 25.4 ... what should i look for when buying wheels

For details on how the various dimensions are measured, check out tirerack's info (click on the list items on the right): http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/wheeltech.htm

What you want is a wheel with a 53-48 mm positive offset. The bolt pattern is 5x100. For width, wider is generally better, but keep it reasonable (I'd say under 8").

The hardest part is finding a wheel with the right offset.

offset is the measurement from the mounting surface of the hub to the centerline of the rim. its generally measured in mm.

stock wrx rims are 16x6.5 iirc and i know for a fact that they run 205/55-16 tires. the first number (205) is the width of the tire (not the rim) from sidewall to sidewall in mm and you are correct in how to convert it to inches, just divide by 25.4. the second number (55) is the ratio of the height of the sidewall to the width of the tire. the last number (16) is the diameter of the wheel they will fit. as for what to look for when getting wheels, offset will greatly determine what you can or cannot fit. for the most part, subaru friendly offsets are between 48 and 53 for 6-7.5" tires. 8inch wide tires are known to fit with a 51 offset (ssr comps) but prodrive recommends 43. how tall of a rim you'll fit depends on the diameter of the rim and the sidewall ratio of the tire you will get (16" = 55, 17" = 45, 18" = 40, 19" = 35). how wide of a tire to get depends on the rim width (popular sizes are 225/45-17, 225/40-18, and 225/35-19 assuming 7.5" wide rim)

5x100 is referring to the bolt pattern of the lugnuts. subarus require 5x100. the first number is the number of lugs, and the second number is given in mm and is a bit harder to explain in words. for a 5 lugnut boltpattern, if you think of the pattern as a 5 pointed star with one point up two down, and two to the side, the measurement is the length of a line drawn perpendicular from the center of the topmost lugnut to a line drawn across the very bottom of the two bottom-most lugs. for 4, 6, and 8 lug patterns, if you draw lines that connect the center of the lugs making a square, hexagon, or octagon, the measurement is the distance from one side of the shape to the opposite side.
