I've never seen any 380 hit peak tq that quick. the AVO turbo's are known for being one of the slowest spooling bb turbo's.

Running on anemic WA 92 pump.

You're right about AVO spool up times. Actual spool time was more like 3200-3500rpm.

The spool looks quick because the dyno was reading torque and then trying to make sense out of engine measurement (remember that this is an auto-trans with custom torque converter).

Whatevah...I can drop into second gear at 40mph and squeal all four tires. In an automatic! This baby is a torque monstah!!!

Yeah, the torque converter was ordered through my local shop. IPT does great stuff as well.

I haven't upgraded pump/injectors yet. I'm gonna track the car Monday at Pacific Raceways. I'll decide about any further mods after that--this is my grocery-getter after all, not a drag-racer

And for anyone who's interested, here is my lovely Jezabel:

What he said...AFR's look a tad low. You could be making more with at least injectors.

The trq converter is doing its job. This is why there is a huge trq spike down low. Looks good man!

Yuppers, I was thinking that might be the case; but Tim and PIA have both told me that auto-tranny's in WRX's have more spine than the earlier model manual tranny's, aided by the TC absorbing power onset "shock" before transmitting it on down to the wheels. With a transmission cooler I could up the horsepower quite a bit without worrying about breaking anything, especially since I'm not planning on making this a drag-racer.

PIA (Hi Steve!) installed the tranny cooler for me yesterday. At this point, the experts I've spoken to say that I'm good up to 350hp at the crank before I have to worry about breaking anything downstream--not that I'm ever going to get up that high: Jezabel is a really fun DD, but that's it.

i mean abusing your auto tranny by down/upshifting like its a auto....

is it a tiptronic type set up or what? are you able to bump down gears easily or is it just a simple D-3-2-1 set up?

"SportShift" A-T. I run like a normal auto while I want to, but can gear up or down with a tap on the stick, which instantly converts it to a 'manual' transmission (the drive-by-wire version of it, anyway). Prior to tuning, I just used it to gear up, manually lowering my revs since the TC won't shift up until 5500, or until it decides that I've 'calmed down'.

In SportShift mode, the car is much more responsive and predictable. The delay between stick tap and gear shift is upwards of a second in a stock automatic. With the custom TC it's significantly less (not instant, but comparable to the time taken to work a clutch and stick). I'll be running in SportShift when I track the car tomorrow, so I'll be able to control how long it rides at any rpm.

Why, whats wrong with the rear diff? The transmission has always been the weakest link, and even that was supposed to be fixed with the 08s.

Was down at the track yesterday for my first pro-drive class. Had an instructor with me for all laps. He never voiced any concern about the rear differential, although he was tripping that my tach hovered around 5000rpm as I shifted up through the gears These '08 automatics have some seriously aggressive gearing!

All four wheels chirped every time I accelerated up through the gears. Good times. The more it rained on the track, the better the car performed. And the Porsche C4 in my group never caught me until I ran out of gas
