Impreza GC8 rear end and tranny questions

Picked up a 98rs swap. Owner stated it has a 98rs 5mt and a 02 wrx manual open diff. I've been searching a bit but with my blackberry searching is a bit slow. Do these have matching gear ratios? What are the ratios?

Guy I bought it from says 98 rs tranny and 02 stick wrx rear. If that's the case would my car snap something in the tranny, center diff?
I will take a pic of rear end. Any way to tell what the rear ratio is other than spinning and counting?
