Have a Nice Day? Help! I Screwed Up My Door? Need Help ASAP

RIght now it's 9:00pm dark and my passenger door is open and can not lock. Stupid me, I accidently flipped around the latch in the door and now it can't lock. The unit attached to the door which allows the door to lock on the car is flipped around. I tried to flip it back by turning it counter clockwise but no cigar. The openned up the entire door and tried to unhooked but stil nothing. I don't want to take it to the shop of it is easy to do. This really sux. How do I get the latch back in it's locking position? I even tried to hammerit down but that didn't work either. Please help. Thank you everyone.

While this sounds obvious, did you try holding the door handle while trying to flip it?

That is generally all you have to do, if I understand your problem correctly.

It's a diesel

Take a screw driver and put it in the hole where the door pin would go. Apply pressure in the direction you would expect when opening the door and pull the handle.

The latch should open just as it would when latched to the door pin.

Oops. Just noticed the time. I'll assume it has been fixed by now?

Hahahaha, I was using a bungee cord all day today. I gave up, non of the neat tricks work, thanks though. I got up early today and went driving around to find a mechanic. 3 Shops said the unit was broken including a Subie dealer shop. I got po'ed when I heard the damage cost. So I drove home and took the entire unit out. Turns out that the switch was locked and I just need to push up some latch and it flipped around. Va-la.. I had it opening and closing normaly all day until I took a friend home from work. I guess all the hammering did indeed brake it. So now I have to order a new one. I have a junked GL. I check it to see if it's the same.. Thanks again everyone.
