Default Pros & Cons/iPhone 3G vs Verizon 3G

I'm trying to decide whether to stay with Verizon and get a new phone, or to possibly switch over to something like an iphone.

I'd like to:
-use phone as internet for laptop.

-store music.

-browse web and e-mails with phone.

-have phone turn into a personal watercraft at the touch of a button.

Well, one's a fluffy piece of fluffy fluff that comes from a lackluster electronics company who exists purely because of ingenious marketing and sheepish humans feeling the need to be just like everyone else.

The other is Verizon.

I've also heard that you can't just take the battery out of the iphone.

Iphone:
-Does not offer OOTB
-Great
-Best mobile browser out

Somethinglikethestorm:
-Don't know
-Does it have a headphone jack? Otherwise it'll probably be adequate
-BB email support is>apple, but I'm willing to bet the browser on the iPhone will be better. If the storm has the same browser as the bold, it'll be lackluster.

What does OOTB stand for?

Out of the box
Also, you're comparing a specific phone, to an entire cell provider.
Narrow it down, something like the BlackBerry Storm is comparable, but it's not out yet.

iPhone Cons:
Doesn't support Picture Messaging
Doesn't support A2DP (Bluetooth headphones)
Doesn't support corp. wifi encryptions
Doesn't support native data storage
iTunes sucks balls.
Horrible external speakers
Horrible phone speaker
Expensive

Perks:
Awesome touchescreen
Awesome design
Awesome interface
Awesome storage
Jailbreak FTW.

Atleast, this is what I get out of it. I will not be buying another iphone.

Yes it does.
Also it's not too pricey at $199, and the internal/external speakers have been revamped with the 3G. They are more than loud enough.

I don't think I could stand the hugeness of it and the "haptic" screen.
Having to go clicky clicky on a cheap looking plastic screen would get old.

Any ideas how much the Storm might cost? I was just looking at, it seems to have just about everything that I'm looking for.

AT&T's 3G network sucks. They don't have enough towers, all their 3G phones consistently drop 3G service. I had an iPhone sit on my desk and one second it would have 3G service, the next second it would drop to the horribly slow EDGE service. The ****ty nettwork is the reason ATT had to delay the release of the Bold, even though it's out in dozens of countries.

If you want a true 3G experience, Verizon is the only choice in the US right now.

Was the phone running firmware 2.1?
It made huge differences.
I can drive to work ~10 miles and back streaming 192k radio stations and not lose a signal.
Of course this varies greatly area to area.

Yes this was after the firmware update, which did help. But even after, the phone would cycle from 3G to EDGE than back to 3G without me touching or moving the phone. If you get 3G service in one location one minute, then why don't you have 3G service in the same location a minute later? Makes no sense.

I've seen this happen with all 3G phones on AT&T, although the iPhone was by far the worst until the firmware update came out. Maybe this is an LA thing, there are a lot of iPhone fashonistas sucking up the 3G bandwith around here, thus the spotty service.

I'm looking into the i-mate 9052 or some random combination of numbers. It's like a sidekick for everyone not a 15 year old girl. Touch screen, keyboard, wi-fi, email, all the goodies. It's expensive on the site but cheaper through other companies.

if youre going to ask a comparison, then please make it oranges to oranges

iPhone is a specific model of phone, Verizon is just a wireless carrier, they don't MAKE phones, all their phones are made my Samsung, LG, RIM (blackberry) etc, so you are actually asking how does the iPhone compare to the dozen or so EVDO speed phones avail in Verizon's lineup.

I found it on some random Google search. It was some kind of review. I think I googled "blackberry storm price"

Ok, I found the skinny on the Blackberry website.
http://www.blackberry.com/blackberry...features.shtml
The only release date that I saw was for later this Fall.
