Skirts come unpainted and I got them from SGP:

https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/p...oducts_id=1406

The bumper I got from a local dealer I think for around $225, then you've got to order the longer brackets for each side which run about $20 each. I also had the STI rear spoiler to paint so I got a package deal for all 3 for paint and install with a local shop. Lucky for me I had a bunch of subaru bucks I hadn't spent which paid for a bulk of the price for the parts then I just paid for the paint and install.

SeaSube.... your ride is sick man... awesome job!

Quick question again... I've been offered a CBE from a 2010 WRX Premium hatch, and was wondering if it'd fit my 2010 OBS? I'm pretty sure it'll bolt on, after reading through here, but want to make absolutely sure before I purchase. Also is $120 a fair price?

Thanks! I'm not sure about the 2010 but I assume it's the same as the 08-09 which I believe was a direct fit. I know some here with 2.5i's and OBS' have done it so hopefully one of them can confirm. As far as price, I've been looking for a stock exhaust and I think $120 is a pretty good price.

$120 seems like a wicked good price for a wrx premium CBE. I paid $290 for the catback in mine.

Stuff!

Exhaust!

Main mods include an AVO cold air and a custom catback system piped at 65mm. Still have those Rallitek springs waiting to be put on when I get the time.

So I just came back from a week-long road trip to Cincinnati, OH and Northern KY. On the way back, I averaged over 30 MPG, I kid you not. It was as high as 36 at one point but then settled back to 30.3.

Anyone else ever get mileage like this, or did I just have a really good tailwind?

I've been getting upto 32.5 in mine, and then after driving in beltway traffic around DC for a week it gets down to around 27-29 over the duration of the full tank... not too bad! During the summer months it was a bit higher because traffic flowed better... not so much now!

I've had my car for about a month now and it is averaging 25. But in that time I haven't really used it as planned. Last 3 weeks I've been on paternity leave, so my driving has been mostly short trips around town.

However, I drove Skyline Drive last Fri/Sat. From last tank I got in the park to my place in Howard County MD, I got as high as 33+, 31+ by the time I pulled into my house. After 2 days of commuting into DC on that same tank, it has settled on a high 29.

How fast are you guys driving? And are you running the OEM crossbars or any bike racks up there?

I have never driven highway miles without the roof rack. I normally get 22-24 mpg with around town driving and 26-27 on the highway - with the bike racks up top, but no bikes on it. Get 19-24 or so on the highway with bikes up there. Except when I was in Colorado. Coming out of the mountains I got 35 mpg on one tank and 45 mpg on one stretch!

That being said, the bike racks and OEM cross bars are now off for the winter so guess I will see what kind of gas mileage I get now...

Edit: What speeds are you guys running on the highway that you are getting high 20's/low 30's? I usually run about 5mph over the speed limit, so around here that is 70-75 mph that I am normally running for highway speeds.

Not OBS, but FWIW, I was at 29.1 mostly highway all summer, then paternity leave (3 weeks) and it dropped to 28.8 around town.

Just ditched the OEM Potenzas (at 78k miles) for Yoko Envigors.

Interested to see if there is a change because of the tires.

If I use just the dash gauge for a pure highway trip of over an hour I routinely show 31 mpg or better.

I had the roof rack on and was averaging anywhere from 65 to 80 MPH, depending on what the speed limit was. I was driving from northern KY back to NJ, so the speed limit was 65 most of the way (I did anywhere from 70-75), with a few stretches of 70 for the limit (anywhere from 75-80). Lost about an hour in traffic, but still averaged 30.3 total for the trip.

It was as high as 36 MPG at one point, tho. This is an auto tranny as well.

I took the cross bars off for this trip... might not put them on till next summer at this point. I don't ski, and my bike pretty much stays indoors until early spring.

On I-95 I was driving anywhere from 65 to 85. I feel pretty comfortable around the 70-75 area. It's a brand new '11 OBS, so this mileage is probably not going to last forever. Though, I do try and do things that maximize mileage. I don't accellerate very fast as a matter of habit. When in traffic I prefer to give lots of distance and keep a low speed so that I don't have to hit the brakes as much.

Edit: I have the standard transmission BTW.

I noticed about a 1mpg difference when I took off my roof rack, and that was with a fairing on it too... not only has the wind noise gone, but I'm getting a little better gas mileage. I have a 100 mile round trip commute in NOVA every day so I get quite a bit of stop/start traffic now schools are back in! ... still I think 27-29 isn't too bad, and my speed is right around 65 ish. I've found that over 70 I notice the drop in mileage, but just under there seems to be a sweet spot.

I drive a mix of highway and city to work each day, probably 25-30 miles each way. Highway speeds are 65-75, OEM tires, no racks, I average about 27mpg combined. I have a 5-speed with an AVO panel filter and an OEM WRX cat-back.

The best number that I ever saw flash up on my dash was after I had just filled the tank and reset the gauge. I was on a long downhill stretch of the Mass turnpike and saw 48.1 flash up on the dash. I snapped a pic with my phone, but lost it when I switched phones.

... question on your catback.... I MAY be getting a WRX premium one (not decided if it's worth it yet) ... what in your opinion are the advantages (if any) and have you noticed any difference in sound/power or anything else?

Can everyone please stop obsessing over gas mileage and just enjoy their cars? We all know that Subaru's get crappy gas mileage. And i think i speak for everyone when i say that, if i was concerned with gas mileage, i wouldn't have bought a Subaru.

Actually, I went from a '98 Nissan Pathfinder to my Subaru to get better mileage and the AWD. The mileage was one of the key selling points when I bought it.

Obsess? Hardly.

Anyone who did buy one and complains about it is a complete idiot. They should try to master READING before they buy a car.

Slight change in sound, slight shift upwards in the powerband. Not too much. That said, I paid $70 for it, and I wasn't expecting a radical change. If you want sound, just change the muffler. If you want power, you're going to have to do something more comprehensive than just swap out the cat-back. The NA cars are pretty tapped out for power (without some significant work) from the factory.

If you haven't read the sticky in the Naturally Aspirated forum on exhaust and CAIs for NA cars, its' worth the read. The OEM piping on the WRX is about as big as you want to go for the NA engines. Bigger piping will give you more high end power at the expense of low-end.

That said, just about any cat-back for the 08+ WRX will bolt up, other NA owners have gone with the SPT or other aftermarket cat-backs and say they have no complaints.

Side note - I believe that the only thing the "premium" exhaust gives you is the tip. Don't pay more than $100 for it. Mine had the tip and, as I said, I paid $70. I've seen 08+ OEM WRX catback offered anywhere from free to around $150. If you don't get this one, wait about 30 seconds and someone else will be offering one up.

Looking back, would I do it again...probably, but I'm also not trying to get big power or sound out of the car. This was "just right" for me. If you are looking for more than that , hold off and save up for a more significant mod, or put your money someplace where it can make more of a difference, like a rear sway bar.

BTW, a rear sway bar would absolutely be my first modification on the 08+ NA Imprezas. They don't have them in factory trim, and you will get FAR more performance bang for your buck with a rear sway than you will with a cat back, IMO.

Also, I have the sti sport grill on my car and just love the way it looks... I've taken the sti badge off and am having a 2.5i badge made to replace it.... I'm also thinking of doing the same on the back of the car after debadging everything else.... This is just a mock-up in the pics while the badge is being made. I'll think it'll look really nice!
