DeathStar.... silver is the best choice for OBS... i was little skeptical when I got it... but owning it I like more that the black... especially with the snow... and the two tone complements only with the silver than other colors.... the blue and green are FUGLY....

Sorry Magic, but I'm with him...

I was looking at an '09 in the darker blue like yours but couldn't quite pull the trigger on it. When I finally saw the silver one in person, I knew it was the one.

Has anyone got a clear bra on their new 09 OBS? ... I am thinking of getting it.. since i noticed the first snow chip.... ***K..... I am not sure how much of real estate should I cover... any input?

Also I was thinking of lowering the car about 1 1/2 to 2" .... has anyone done this ? would there be any performance impact on the suspensions ?

Mods that I have done so far:
- 30 % tint
- tail tip

Yup, got the clear bra on the entire front end after one week of driving it off the lot. I'm really glad I got it. #1 it's been a long time since I've had a new car (93 was my first) #2 I'm a little OCD about my paint so it was a hard pill to swallow price wise, but I'm glad I had it done.

I have mine dropped on STi pinks. Just about < .5" of a drop. Got rid of the nasty body roll and just an overall better ride. Not as soft, but not too firm. Great for daily driving.

As for the blue, I vowed a long time ago that I would never buy a blue car. Low and behold when I saw the OBS in the lot, it hit me just right. The two tone breaks it up nicely. I thought about the silver, but I didn't like how the two tone was sooo subtle. Silver over Steel Silver kinda bothered me. Not that it doesn't look nice, but it wasn't for me. I've had the car for 10 months now and I've only seen another blue one once in the Tri-State area. That makes me love it more. I prefer to be different (not that OBS's are that common in the first place).

Signed on the dotted line this weekend for a OBP 09 to replace my 97 OBS!

Got the short-throw shifter the sport grill and a few other add-ons thrown in too!

Picking it up tomorrow!

I've got an 08 impreza 5 door and it seems to like to get rock chips on the front of the hood. Whats the best way to prevent these? Is that clear bra a good option?

So when you put on the clear bra... how does it hold up with the washing and waxing ? can you wax on it... maybe its a dumb question.... How much did you pay for it ?

Dose putting on the STI springs void warranty? ofcourse i have to do it with my local mechanic... dealers charge too much ....

I am glad you like the blue bro...I was expressing my personal opinion earlier...... . the silver looks even better with the tints...

So when you put on the clear bra... how does it hold up with the washing and waxing ?
can you wax on it... maybe its a dumb question....

It washes and waxes up fine. Since it's not paint, I don't even bother waxing it. Here's a tip on the clear bra....be sure to tape off the seams with painters tape when you wax. That way there is no way to get any wax residue at the seam. If you do and it dries, it will be a pain to get off.

Also, when you have a pro install the bra, he/she should custom trim the bra where the two tone paint meets. If you look, there is a raised paint seam at the color transition. When my guy did it, he custom cut a relief so the bra would lay flat by that seam. If you don't, the bra won't lay flat and could get a bubble.

The only drawback with the clear bra is that there may be an edge that could be weak in terms of automatic car washes and washing/ drying in general. I have part of my bra that comes to a point. That is the weakest part in terms of adhesion. So when I run it through the car wash in the winter, I cover it with a little bit of painters tape. In the summer when I hand wash it, I'm just extra careful not to catch the corner.

How much did you pay for it ?

I'm sure I'll get flamed by someone here, but I paid $800 to get the entire front end done. That includes the head and fog lights. The film is by Xpel and the installer's reputation preceded himself. I am extremely satisfied with his work and I plan to go back to have my tinting done. So where ever you go, be sure their work is top notch and they use a quality product.

Dose putting on the STI springs void warranty? ofcourse i have to do it with my local mechanic... dealers charge too much ....

Well, I asked Jaime from subarugenuineparts.com and she said that the springs were meant to work with stock shocks, but that doesn't mean a whole lot if the struts blow. I'm not too concerned as her info is very reliable and I have a great dealer service department that helps me out. I had AZP do the install for me as the dealer wanted wayyy too much. Since AZP does so much work on Subarus and they tune their own cars, I have complete confidence that their work is reliable. I ended up bringing it in for something else and the guy I know in service said they would double check AZP's work. All was well and if any warranty could have been voided, he would have told me.

Sorry, long description but I'm sure you'd prefer more info then less.

My black OBS gets so unbelievably dirty in the snow, so I made a move to hopefully keep it a bit cleaner thanks to motivation from the following picture:

I can't say anything for the product yet, but their customer service is fantastic. As soon as I placed my order, I had a confirmation email. Exactly 13 minutes later says Gmail, I got a shipping confirmation email. Here's to hoping the product is as great as their initial customer service...

Wow... $800 sounds a little on the high end for me now.... maybe i might shop around and see... like you said I have to see who does a good job... I already started seeing some air bubbles on my tint... i need to take it back for a rework .

For $49 you got the R/A Basics. I've seen them before and read a lot about them. Great flaps for the price, but in time people have said they will curl a bit due to them being so thin. I have the UR's so they are very flexible and have retained their shape so far. Also the UR's have a slight sheen to them. But the UR's cost $120 or so. I ordered them from my dealer and used a 20% coupon

MM, did you do the drill or the clip option for the rear install on the RA mud flaps? I have a set of the URs that I am installing this weekend. I undercoated the clips today and sprayed some additional undercoating on the area the clips will be mounted as a precaution. It was too cold to do much more than that.

My car has an additional plastic liner in the wheel well that isn't shown on the RA directions. I'm assuming that it's the additional sound proofing and lining that Subaru added to the '09s, but it covers and extends below the metal part that you would drill through, or clip to. I'm leaning towards the clip, and jut screwing through the plastic into the clip, rather than trying to line up a drill through the plastic and the metal, with no easy way to spray more undercoating on the drilled hole.

Went the clip route for the RA mount. Pretty simple, and here are the results:

Well I didn't have a liner to deal w/ so I just had the drill method done. I had my dealer do it for me. It was much easier when they took off the rear wheels and put it up on the lift. I only installed the fronts since they were uber easy.
